University Public Relations Media Award 2026
The second edition of the highly anticipated University Public Relations Media Award is set to take place in 2026, organized by Nikkei BP Consulting, based in Minato-ku, Tokyo. Following the impressive participation of 189 submissions from 84 universities last year, this award aims to invigorate public relations activities at universities across Japan.
Award Overview
The University Public Relations Media Award recognizes various forms of media published or distributed by universities, including public relations magazines, digital content, and videos. Its goal is to evaluate the quality and creativity of these submissions, promoting an improvement in public relations communication for educational institutions. All university representatives are encouraged to submit their entries in hopes of showcasing their unique initiatives and communications strategies.

- - Target Audience: Public relations media from universities across Japan.
- - Eligible Content Period: From April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026.
- - Submission Fee: Free of charge.
Award Categories
The competition is divided into three categories:
1.
Public Relations Magazine Category: This includes all formats, whether print or digital. Entries should focus on delivering important information and promoting the university's activities and values to diverse audiences, such as current students, alumni, faculty, prospective students, business partners, and the local community.
2.
Digital Content Category: Similar to the public relations magazine category, this encompasses websites and other digital content created to enhance the university’s brand value and recognition.
3.
Video Content Category: This category includes videos posted on platforms such as YouTube and social media, as well as those on the university’s official website, aimed at showcasing the university’s activities and information to both internal and external stakeholders.
Judging Criteria
The evaluation will follow a meticulous process: submissions will first be verified for compliance with entry requirements by the secretariat, followed by assessments from external judges. Awards will be presented in Gold, Silver, and Bronze categories based on five criteria: planning, design, originality, creativity, and textual quality. An additional assessment called the Next-Generation High School Student Empathy Award will allow high school students to participate in evaluating the video content submissions.
