Call for New HERO Project Entries: The X-VERSE HERO Initiative

XBP Corporation, based in Chuo-ku, Tokyo, is making strides in the realm of IP entertainment with its latest initiative, the X-VERSE HERO Project. This project aims to expand the boundaries of imagination through its new division of the film competition known as the X BORDER PROJECT.

The X BORDER PROJECT is dedicated to discovering innovative creators from both domestic and international backgrounds and providing them business support for global expansion of their works. The X-VERSE HERO Project, a new conceptual entry, seeks to uncover diverse intellectual properties (IPs) featuring heroes from various settings and times, establishing a stage where these heroes can intersect and thrive.

Submission Details

To participate, applicants must submit a project proposal that includes character settings and a narrative outline, paired with impactful visuals. A panel of distinguished judges specializing in hero content, including prominent figures such as Takahiro Ozawa (manga artist and screenwriter) and Moto Sasaki (CEO of Amazing Entertainment), will adjudicate based on originality, diversity, and visual appeal.

The competition is open to everyone—individuals, corporations, and organizations alike—encouraging all creative minds to apply. The deadline for submissions is June 30, 2025. Final judging will take place on July 20, 2025, at the X BORDER 2025 event in Okinawa, where the grand prize winner will receive 500,000 yen. Selected characters will also have the opportunity to be developed into manga or anime projects, expanding their reach to an international audience.

Application Requirements

1. Character Materials and Images: Proposals should include details such as character names, ages, gender, origins, backgrounds, special skills, personalities, beliefs, and weaknesses. Visual elements showcasing features, costumes, and color schemes must also be included.
2. Story Description: Submit documentation explaining the hero's origin, purpose, growth process, and relationships with rivals, along with the overarching themes and messages the characters aim to convey.

Important Information

- Application Period: Until June 30, 2025 (23:59 JST).
- Participants: Open to individuals, corporations, and organizations, regardless of previous experience.
- Prize Money: Total of 500,000 yen, distributed evenly among qualified winner submissions.
- Ownership: While the original rights remain with the applicant, a separate contract will be established for project utilization.
- Restrictions: Works infringing on others' copyrights or violating public morals will not be accepted.
- Judging Results: Announcements will be made at the X BORDER 2025 event.

Judges

Takahiro Ozawa is a renowned manga artist responsible for chart-topping works like Tokyo Toy Box and Big Tokyo Toy Box, known for their genuine portrayals of the gaming industry. He is also involved with the Nighthawks story development team, working on projects like the new anime LAZARUS.

Moto Sasaki, a hit producer at TV Asahi, has produced numerous dramas and films over the years. After establishing Amazing Entertainment in 2023, he now focuses on global IP development, influencing the entertainment industry significantly.
