PACU Foundation’s Generous Donation Boosts Seven North Carolina Charities

On December 2, 2025, the PACU Foundation, the charitable branch of Piedmont Advantage Credit Union, proudly announced a donation of $42,000 to seven charities in North Carolina. This contribution was made to honor Giving Tuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back and supporting various causes.

Since its inception in 2020, the PACU Foundation has made significant strides in community support, raising over $100,000 for local organizations. The annual presentation on Giving Tuesday aligns perfectly with the foundation's mission to uplift those struggling financially, a cause championed by PACU Foundation President, Jean Golden-Rumer.

"Taking part in Giving Tuesday is a point of pride for us at the PACU Foundation," said Golden-Rumer. "We aspire to enhance the opportunities available to the underprivileged in our community." Alongside her in the presentation were Mary Vitale, the Board Chair, and James Moore, the Gifting Committee Chairman.

This year, each of the seven selected charities received $6,000 each, aimed at bolstering their operations and outreach initiatives:

1. Education Over Debt Foundation: This foundation helps African American high school students in Mecklenburg County by providing scholarships and aiding undocumented students of color in their educational pursuits, including citizenship.
2. Help, Incorporated's Square One Family Justice Center: Located in Rockingham County, this center offers crucial financial resources to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, elder abuse, and human trafficking.
3. Mooresville Area Christian Mission: Dedicated to battling intergenerational poverty, this organization offers crisis assistance, case management, and educational support to residents of Iredell County.
4. A Storehouse for Jesus: Operating in Davie County, this volunteer-led ministry provides essential items, such as clothing and food, to those impacted by financial difficulties, illness, or domestic violence.
5. Winston-Salem Rescue Mission: This mission helps men in Winston-Salem change their lives through recovery programs, while also supplying food and clothing to needy families and offering health services.
6. Winston-Salem Street School: This alternative high school provides a holistic educational approach for at-risk youth, focusing on academic, social, physical, and spiritual growth.
7. The Women's Resource Center of Greensboro: This center plays a pivotal role in promoting women's independence through resource coordination and needs assessment.

Golden-Rumer expressed her pride in contributing to these charitable organizations, stating, "We consider it a privilege to support the exceptional initiatives that address financial hardship and promote education." She attributed the PACU Foundation's success to the compassion of its donors and expressed enthusiasm about continuing the positive impact into the following year.

The PACU Foundation is recognized as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, committed to advancing charitable giving in the areas of financial literacy education, training, and emergency assistance for residents in need throughout the Triad and Charlotte communities. This continued support transforms lives and reinforces the principle that compassionate giving can foster significant change in the community.

As the year progresses, organizations like the PACU Foundation remind us that acts of kindness can bridge the gap for many individuals and families, preparing them to overcome the financial hurdles they may face. The PACU Foundation looks forward to maintaining the momentum of generosity as it heads into the upcoming year, encouraging more entities to engage in charitable actions.
