Sentinel Capital Partners Finalizes Sale of Autronica Division to MSA Safety

Strategic Sale of Autronica Division

In a significant move within the safety solutions industry, Sentinel Capital Partners confirmed the conclusion of its agreement to sell Autronica Fire and Security to MSA Safety, a distinguished global leader in the safety products sector. The deal, valued at roughly $555 million, solidifies MSA Safety's position in the fire, smoke, and gas detection arena, particularly in critical infrastructure sectors.

Autronica, based in Trondheim, Norway, is recognized for its innovative designs in fire detection and alarm systems as well as gas detection solutions tailored for high-demand scenarios including energy, maritime, and other vital infrastructures. The company develops products equipped with various regulatory certifications suitable for harsh conditions, fulfilling its pledge to safeguard lives, the environment, and property.

This sale marks a pivotal transition for Autronica, as it has operated under the Spectrum Safety Solutions platform, which was itself carved out from the industrial fire business segment of Carrier Global Corporation back in 2024. Over the last two years, Autronica thrived under Sentinel’s guidance, enhancing its geographical reach and scaling its operations while maintaining its commitment to innovation and quality.

Sindre Utne, the CEO of Autronica, expressed his gratitude towards Sentinel, stating, “We appreciate Sentinel's support and strategic guidance over the past two years. Their partnership helped us scale thoughtfully and expand geographically while staying true to our culture and commitment to excellence.”

Reflecting on the collaboration, Eric Bommer, Co-Managing Partner at Sentinel, added, “We've enjoyed partnering with Sindre and the entire Autronica team. Participating in their growth and evolution has been rewarding, and Autronica is now well-positioned to continue its impressive growth trajectory as part of MSA Safety.”

Prior to this transaction, Sentinel had also agreed to divest Marioff, another division of Spectrum, which specializes in high-pressure water mist fire suppression solutions, to the private equity firm Inflexion. These strategic moves align to allow Spectrum to concentrate its efforts on its U.S.-based detection and monitoring businesses, which include prominent brands like Det-Tronics and Fireye.

Sentinel Capital Partners has cultivated an extensive portfolio within the industrial landscape, having previously invested in companies like Alemite and Chromalox, which specialize in lubrication equipment and heating systems respectively.

As MSA Safety integrates Autronica into its broader safety product offerings, the focus will undoubtedly be on harnessing cutting-edge technology to enhance safety standards worldwide. The acquisition is certain to assist MSA in expanding its portfolio, benefitting from Autronica’s innovations in detecting hazards associated with industrial and safety environments.
