In a groundbreaking move for the field of quantum computing, Jacobs (NYSE: J) has been chosen by PsiQuantum to spearhead the development of a utility-scale quantum computer located in Brisbane, Australia. This facility, sprawling across an impressive 540,000 square feet, will be strategically situated next to Brisbane Airport and will consist of a main office space, a large-scale cryoplant, and the Quantum Computing Center, where the innovative quantum system will be housed.
The venture marks a pivotal step toward realizing PsiQuantum's ambitious goal: to create a quantum computer capable of solving complex problems that are beyond the reach of traditional supercomputers or even sophisticated AI models. This initiative aligns with Australia's National Quantum Strategy, reinforcing a vision that supports a thriving quantum industry in the region. Construction of the facility is expected to commence in late 2025, with the objective of completion by the end of 2027.
