Oncoinvent Achieves 50% Recruitment Milestone in Ovarian Cancer Study

Oncoinvent, a clinical-stage radiopharmaceutical company, has recently announced a major milestone in its Phase 2 trial of Radspherin®, a targeted alpha-emitting therapy designed to eradicate cancer cells in the abdominal cavity. The study focuses on patients with peritoneal metastases stemming from ovarian cancer, and the company has successfully recruited 54 patients, marking the completion of half of the planned enrollment.

The momentum for patient recruitment has increased dramatically in 2026, with 28 patients enrolled in just the first half of the year, already outpacing the total enrolment for the previous year. This acceleration can be attributed to the opening of four new sites for recruitment in 2026, bringing the total to ten active hospitals across a range of countries, including the United States, Spain, Norway, Belgium, the United Kingdom, and Italy. The continuous addition of study sites is aimed at maintaining this positive trend in recruiting participants.

The primary aim of this Phase 2 trial, designated as ClinicalTrials.gov NCT06504147, is to assess the effectiveness and safety of Radspherin® as a supplemental treatment for patients who have undergone complete surgical resection and have received pre-operative chemotherapy. In contrast, the control group will be provided with standard care, which consists solely of chemotherapy and surgical intervention.

Previously conducted Phase 1 and Phase 1/2a trials have shown promising results for Radspherin®, indicating that the drug is well tolerated at the recommended dosage of 7MBq, with no dose-limiting toxicities. Moreover, initial efficacy signals from these studies have been positive, underscoring Radspherin®'s potential to significantly improve patient outcomes. Data from the Phase 1 research in ovarian cancer appeared in the peer-reviewed journal Gynecologic Oncology, while findings from the colorectal cancer study were published in respected journals such as the Journal of Surgical Oncology and Frontiers in Medicine.
