The 9th Shenyang Open Regatta Revitalizes the Rowing Capital

The 9th Shenyang Open Regatta recently took center stage, concluding its latest edition on September 13, 2026, along the picturesque Hunhe River in Liaoning Province, Northeast China. This annual rowing event has successfully established itself over the past eight years, marking a significant cultural and sporting milestone for the city known as the rowing capital of the region.

In an effort to broaden participation, the 2026 edition of the Shenyang Open Regatta introduced new events in stand-up paddleboarding and leisure kayaking, aiming to entice amateurs and young athletes alike to explore the thrills of water sports. This was the first time that globally popular strength competitions were integrated, combining land and water activities to heighten participant engagement. Activities included both traditional rowing races and these new formats, each designed to appeal to a wide audience and offer something different to competitors and spectators alike.
