Samsung Ventures & GRC Join Forces Amidst Rising Liquid Cooling Demand in Data Centers

Samsung Ventures & GRC Partnership

In a strategic move that highlights the escalating demand for innovative cooling solutions within data centers, Samsung Ventures has made a significant investment in Green Revolution Cooling (GRC), a pioneering company specializing in single-phase immersion cooling technology. This partnership marks a notable step as Samsung C&T also establishes a collaborative relationship with GRC, aiming to enhance their capacity to meet the burgeoning global requirements for efficient data center operations.

Investment to Foster Growth

GRC has recently announced securing additional funding that will bolster its growth trajectory. This investment rounds out the support received from key stakeholders, including HTS, SK Enmove, and ENEOS, reinforcing the company's already robust financial backing. The recent influx of capital is expected to not only amplify GRC's production capabilities but also accelerate its innovation cycle within the realm of data center cooling solutions.

The partnership arrives on the heels of impressive achievements by GRC over the last year. These milestones feature new production-level clientele, numerous product releases, and the renewal of the company’s ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management certification, reflecting its commitment to quality. Furthermore, GRC has entered into an engineering alliance with tech giant Cisco and forged a strategic partnership with Park Place Technologies, a leader in data center maintenance services. Notably, GRC's 100kw/rack deployment at Shell was nominated as a finalist in the DCD Global Awards for the North American Data Center Project of the Year category.

A Vision for Sustainable Data Centers

Commenting on the recent investment, GRC's CEO, Peter Poulin, expressed enthusiasm about the new round of funding and confidence from both long-standing and new investors. He emphasized that this partnership positions GRC favorably to adapt to increasing market demands while continuing its legacy of innovation in liquid immersion cooling technologies. The availability of this additional capital will empower GRC to enhance its collaborative efforts with industry partners to design integrated cooling systems that are not only cost-efficient but also reduce operational risks.

Samsung C&T's engagement emphasizes a shared vision of developing solutions tailored to the thermal challenges presented by emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), high-performance computing (HPC), and edge computing deployments. As part of the Business Collaboration Agreement between Samsung's CT Group and GRC, both companies are set to work together on developing advanced reference designs that address substantial thermal management needs in modern data center environments.

Daejung Kim, VP at SK Enmove's Green Business Office, welcomed Samsung's involvement, highlighting the collective mission to lessen the complexity and environmental footprint of global digital infrastructures—ultimately steering towards a more sustainable future.

The Future of Immersion Cooling

GRC is renowned as The Immersion Cooling Authority®, its cutting-edge patented technology fundamentally alters the landscape of data center cooling solutions. By eliminating the dependency on conventional cooling systems such as chillers and air conditioning units, the approach helps businesses drastically lower expenses associated with design, construction, energy consumption, and maintenance. Furthermore, GRC's solutions are being utilized across 22 countries, proving their adaptability to next-gen applications ranging from AI and blockchain to 5G and extensive edge computing installations.

With a steadfast commitment to delivering high-quality immersion cooling products, GRC’s operations are underpinned by its ISO 9001:2015 certification, ensuring top-tier manufacturing and design standards. In an era where data demands continue to skyrocket, GRC’s collaboration with industry leaders, such as Samsung, positions it as a crucial player in shaping the future of sustainable data center operations, promoting resilience, efficiency, and environmental responsibility.

As both companies align their efforts under this new partnership, it will be interesting to watch how their combined innovations will transform the data center landscape, paving the way for a more energy-efficient and sustainable approach to cooling solutions in the fast-evolving tech ecosystem.
