The 2025 Renovation Contest hosted by Aiful Home Company, a division of LIXIL Housing Research Institute, has concluded with exceptional entries celebrated for their creativity and quality. The contest focused on homes renovated between April 1, 2024, and January 30, 2026, awarding prizes based on a voting system by headquarters staff. The competition highlighted a total of six outstanding projects, including a Grand Prize winner, two runners-up, and three special awards.

  • - Renovation Concept: A full renovation that creatively reuses cherished memories while incorporating modern trends.

The living room optimally utilized the existing ceiling height, opting for a design taller than standard. Upon entering, guests are greeted by a stunning Richelle kitchen, complemented by eco-friendly Ecolat tiles in matching colors. The second washbasin is a trendy custom piece, blending practical design with aesthetic appeal, achieved through collaborative discussions. Additionally, the traditional Japanese room retains features like the existing transoms and floor pillars, seamlessly incorporating the father's memories.

  • - Renovation Concept: Reducing the size of an overly spacious house to create a comfortable living environment.

This renovation transformed a former office and a sprawling residence into a cozy space for three generations, focusing on practicality.

Aiful Home Yamagata Central Store

  • - Renovation Concept: This is the couple’s final remodel, aimed at eliminating cold spots for a warmer home.

With the children now grown, the couple focused on making the first floor their primary living space. The interior was unified with a natural modern aesthetic. They utilized the space under the stairs to create a nook for the husband’s private retreat. Indirect lighting was strategically used in the TV and nook areas to promote a coherent ambiance.
