WCL Unveils Revolutionary Digital Platform for Treaty Placement in Bermuda

WCL Launches an Innovative Digital Treaty Placement Platform in Bermuda

In a groundbreaking move for the reinsurance sector, Web Connectivity Limited (WCL), part of Zywave, has officially launched its enhanced platform for Treaty risk placement in Bermuda, signaling a significant step towards the digital transformation of this industry. This innovative solution was developed through close collaboration with leading reinsurance brokers and reinsurers, designed to streamline the submission processes that have long plagued the marketplace.

The new platform, called enabledPlacing, allows for the consolidation of treaty submissions from various brokers into a single standardized interface for underwriters, ensuring compliance with ACORD Standards. This initiative addresses critical inefficiencies that arise when underwriters interact with multiple bespoke broking platforms, which can complicate workflows and access to risk data.

The launched platform went live last week in collaboration with Ark Bermuda and Vantage Risk, along with AON's Reinsurance business, who are champions of this modern operating model for processing digital Treaty placements. Troy Hughes, Global Director of eCommerce at Aon, noted, "Having an end-to-end solution from placing to settlement has been a long-term goal of the industry. This initiative makes significant strides towards establishing a genuinely data-driven marketplace, empowering clients with real-time insights, transparency, and efficiency in optimizing their reinsurance placements."

The launch was preceded by a successful pilot project that initiated in March 2025, receiving contributions from various notable firms such as Lockton Re and RenaissanceRe. James Willison, Managing Director of WCL, emphasized the importance of this recent development: "The successful pilot in 2025, and our recent go-live, represent a massive step forward in developing a genuinely digital marketplace in Bermuda. This platform meets the crucial demand for a simplified, digital way to manage and access risk submissions."

Key Features of the enabledPlacing Platform

The enabledPlacing platform is designed with a host of features aimed at enhancing operational efficiency:

1. Unified User Interface: Reinsurers can view and interact with broker submissions through a single interface, reducing the need to switch between multiple systems.
2. Automated Ingestion: The system supports the automatic ingestion of large modeling files without requiring downloads from broker systems, thus speeding up processing time.
3. Standardized Data Formats: By utilizing ACORD GRLC ePlacing standards, the platform ensures consistency and ease of integration across the market.
4. Scalable Process: A defined, scalable methodology for all involved parties ensures smoother operations as more brokers join the platform.

This initiative has garnered positive feedback from the Bermuda market, with additional brokers like Lockton Re scheduled to onboard by early 2026, and RenaissanceRe coming on board shortly thereafter. To further engage with stakeholders, WCL is organizing a roundtable titled 'From Vision to Reality' on November 5, where they will present the platform to the community and initiate the onboarding of the next group of market participants.

Casey Chlebek, Head of Underwriting Operations at Ark Bermuda, expressed pride in the launch, stating, "This is a proud moment for our team and the market. We have worked diligently to bring this vision to fruition, and it is exciting to lead this industry-first initiative."

WCL's digital placing journey began with a series of roundtables in 2024, driven by a strong call for a unified digital solution within the Bermuda market. Over 70% of participants expressed support for an aggregation platform, and 90% indicated readiness to embark on this transformative journey.

Clarissa Montecillo, Managing Director – UK at ACORD, noted the significance of placing as the next digital frontier. "Transformation in technology and processes is necessary," she stated. "We take pride in offering the ACORD community and the global reinsurance market the essential data standards needed for a truly interconnected digital ecosystem."

In summary, the launch of the enabledPlacing platform heralds a new era in Bermuda's reinsurance market—defined by increased efficiency, enhanced collaboration, and innovative practices.
