JTB's New Initiatives in Educational Travel

In an exciting development for educational travel, JTB Corporation, based in Minato-ku, Tokyo, is set to launch new programs as part of their 'MY LIV PROJECT.' This initiative is designed to facilitate unique travel experiences that foster well-being among students. The new programs will be available starting June 2, 2026, and are aimed at junior high and high school students across Japan.

Background and Objectives

The 'MY LIV PROJECT' aims to inspire children through travel by encouraging encounters and dialogues with locals. This initiative aims to help students engage with diverse perspectives and explore their identities while opening pathways for their futures. With a growing demand for school trips and study tours, JTB is enhancing its program offerings to allow students to immerse themselves in various regions' cultures and values.

Overview of New Programs

JTB’s latest offerings include three unique programs:

1. Tourism Quest Tokyo:
Set against the vibrant backdrop of Tokyo, where tradition meets modernity, this program focuses on 'diversity, creativity, and challenge.' Participants will engage in discussions with individuals from various backgrounds, learning to appreciate different lifestyles and the idea of challenging existing norms. They will experience the dynamism of unique personalities creating new values, spotlighting the coexistence of historical and contemporary culture in Tokyo. The program takes approximately three hours.

2. Tourism Quest Miyagi & Fukushima:
This program highlights the resilience of the Tohoku region, focusing on 'despair and hope, being, and innovation.' Participants will engage with local change-makers who have faced significant challenges, prompting students to reflect on their own lives and actions. They will explore regional innovations born from adversity, learning about the strength and hope of people overcoming obstacles. The duration of this program is also around three hours.

3. Peace Park Tour Okinawa:
At the Okinawa Peace Memorial Park, students will explore themes of peace with youth actively involved in peace initiatives. Participants will consider what peace means to them through multiple perspectives, gaining insights into the Okinawa War's impact. They will engage in discussions with peers, fostering personal reflections on their actionable steps towards promoting peace. This program lasts approximately 80 minutes.
