Kodomi Laundry Wins Japanese Childcare Support Award 2025

Kodomi Laundry's Recognition

In a significant achievement for the startup, Kodomi, based in Suginami, Tokyo, was awarded the prestigious 6th Japanese Childcare Support Award 2025. This award is organized by the Japan Childcare Support Association, which recognizes products and services that genuinely assist families with children, including parents, grandparents, and childcare providers.

About the Award

Established in 2020, the Japanese Childcare Support Award seeks to honor and support products and services that are particularly beneficial for child-rearing households. The award encompasses eight categories, including textile, food, housing, daily necessities, applications, and initiatives taken by municipalities. Products are rigorously selected based on five criteria: safety and security, convenience and reduction of burdens, child development, parent-child communication, and comfort. Since 2021, there's even a category dedicated to municipal initiatives that highlight regional childcare support efforts on a national scale.

Kodomi Laundry: Reducing Burdens for Parents and Childcare Workers

Kodomi Laundry aims to alleviate the stress of childcare for parents by providing laundry services that include washing daily clothes and weekend nap sheets. The service ensures that parents can pick up their children with no extra baggage, promoting a seamless transition between home and daycare.

The initiative not only aids parents but also improves the working conditions for childcare workers by managing the laundry generated at daycares. This allows both parents and educators to invest more time and energy into their core responsibilities: nurturing and educating children. By enhancing the joys and fulfillment of parenting, Kodomi Laundry is committed to enriching the experience of spending quality time with kids, fostering an environment full of smiles and support.

Evaluator’s Feedback

The selection committee praised the service, noting that parents are often overwhelmed with laundry due to daily changes required at daycare, especially when mud or spills occur. The prospect of a service that collects and returns laundered items the following day significantly lightens the load for many caregivers. This laundry service is especially invaluable during weekends when additional laundry duties, such as washing and ironing nap sheets, pose challenges for tired parents.
