Sands China's Commitment to Community

On July 8, 2026, Sands China organized its fifth consecutive 'Sands Cares Global Food Kit Build' at The Venetian Macao's Cotai Expo. This annual event is a vital part of the Sands Cares initiative from the parent company, Las Vegas Sands Corp. This year, approximately 450 participants came together, including social service organization members, Sands Cares Ambassador volunteers, team members, and executives from Las Vegas Sands.

Together, these dedicated individuals assembled an astounding 5,000 food kits, which are destined to assist locals in need through the efforts of Caritas Macau. This initiative highlights Sands China's ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility and its focus on empowering the Macao community.

A Unified Effort

The assembly of food kits marks a significant achievement in terms of community service. Patrick Dumont, the CEO of Las Vegas Sands Corp., played a pivotal role by attending the event, as he expressed his gratitude to all participants for their tireless efforts to aid those in need. "The Sands Cares Global Food Kit Build reflects our long-standing commitment to Macao and its diverse community," Dumont remarked.

The event saw record participation and the highest number of kits assembled in its history. Participants gathered together to promote the spirit of camaraderie and shared purpose.

The Content of the Kits

Each of the assembled food kits weighs approximately 30 tons and contains 11 essential food items sourced from local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The kits include staples like rice, cooking oil, egg noodles, and biscuits, alongside soup packs from the Tung Sin Tong Charitable Society.

In a new effort to promote healthy eating habits, recipe cards from Caritas Macau and Sands China’s food and beverage team were included in the kits. These recipes are designed with input from nutritionists from the Macao Health Bureau, encouraging recipients to embrace nutritious dietary practices that align with the government’s initiative for a 'Healthy Community.'

An Event Supported by the Community and Government

The Global Food Kit Build was organized with significant support from the Social Welfare Bureau and the Health Bureau of the Macao SAR government. The sense of togetherness at the event underscored the collaborative spirit of the Macao community in striving to uplift each other in challenging times.

Dumont emphasized, "This initiative aims to generate a sense of unity and care for our community, and it is wonderful to see this collective effort manifest through the number of participants and volunteers."

Following the assembly, the food kits will be delivered to 34 Caritas Macau care homes and centers across various districts from July to August, ensuring that they reach the elderly and other underprivileged groups who need them most.

Honoring Community Service

In a touching moment during the event, community service certificates were awarded to 70 volunteers, showcasing the dedication of individuals ranging from teenagers to seasoned elderly members who have contributed to social work. Organizations like Caritas Macau and the General Volunteers Association of Macao were notably recognized for their collaboration.

Sands China's Sands Cares Ambassador Program, started in 2009, saw over 4,000 members engaging in volunteerism with a remarkable cumulative total of 362,000 service hours dedicated to various initiatives aimed at enhancing community welfare.
