Encore Becomes First Hospitality Partner to Fund AHLA's Anti-Trafficking Initiatives
Encore, a frontrunner in the event production and technology sector, has made a notable commitment of $150,000 towards the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) Foundation's No Room for Trafficking (NRFT) Survivor Fund. This announcement marks Encore as the first major hospitality partner to engage with this crucial initiative aimed at enhancing awareness and support for survivors of human trafficking.
Human trafficking is an overwhelming global issue, affecting approximately 28 million individuals worldwide on any given day. Furthermore, this illicit activity generates over $172 billion annually, posing significant challenges not only for victims but also for businesses within the hospitality industry. Recognizing the urgency of this problem, Encore's president and CEO Ben Erwin underscored the company's unique position to catalyze change in combating trafficking across the hospitality sector.
The financial commitment will be utilized over the course of two years, commencing in 2027, to amplify Encore's longstanding efforts in human trafficking prevention, which includes training and promoting awareness among staff. All global team members will be required to undergo human trafficking awareness training during their onboarding process, reinforcing Encore's commitment to identifying and reporting potential signs of trafficking.
As part of the NRFT initiative, the Survivor Fund is dedicated to providing grants to organizations that are engaged in job training, workforce development, emergency assistance, and services designed to empower survivors towards achieving economic independence. Kevin Carey, President and CEO of the AHLA Foundation, expressed gratitude for Encore's pioneering support, emphasizing the importance of fostering safer environments within the hospitality sector.
This partnership not only demonstrates Encore's dedication to corporate social responsibility but also highlights its role as a leader in promoting responsible business practices. Encore operates alongside over 2,200 hotel and event venues globally, hence its influence can significantly help raise awareness about human trafficking and provide adequate tools for identification and response.
Founded in Schiller Park, Illinois, Encore is committed to connecting and inspiring the events industry, supporting a vast network of venues through innovative technology and exceptional service. The company's broader mission includes fostering a culture of belonging and professional growth for all employees, which reflects in its status as one of the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For in 2026.
With Encore’s pioneering initiative, the hospitality industry is taking a significant step toward addressing a pressing societal issue. The collaboration with the AHLA Foundation serves as an essential reminder of the role businesses can play in creating both safe environments for guests and meaningful support for victims of human trafficking. Through awareness, education, and a commitment to action, the partnership aims not just to combat this issue but also to pave the way for survivors towards a more independent future.
