Event Highlights


1. Exhibition on Diverse Research Outcomes (2nd Floor)
The exhibition will showcase the collaborative research outcomes of RCSC and the Japan Research Institute, alongside individual research from RCSC. Expect unique displays arising from the fusion of creative ideation characteristic of art institutions and logical planning skills typical of think tanks.

2. Talk Sessions Featuring Experts and Partners (5th Floor)
The event hosts dynamic discussions themed on "Participatory Future," bringing together a variety of guests. Key topics may include educational reform, social welfare, and urban development, all aiming to explore the design of participation that fosters the future.

  • - Keynote Speech and Panel Discussion: "Designing Participation to Foster Unseen Talents and Voices" with guests like Masanobu Takahama and Atsunobu Kimura.
  • - Convivial Design Forum: Reports on citizen participation and empowerment design focused on future dialogues and speculative discussions surrounding children and privacy.
  • - Joint Research Reporting: Featuring collaborative research on narrative designs around snow with experts from Japan Research Institute and NTT East.

November 29 (Saturday)


  • - Keynote Speech and Panel Discussion: Addressing who participation is for and what it aims to achieve, featuring guests such as Kazuki Mori and Natsuko Higa.
  • - Reports on Self-Sustaining Community Design and Participation Design.
  • - Closing Talk: A collaborative outlook on the participatory future by RCSC and Japan Research Institute.

3. Introduction of Japan Research Institute's Practices (6th Floor)
Under the sub-theme "Listening to Walk Between Now and the Future," this section will present initiatives focused on participatory mutual future designs. The goal is to foster dialogue surrounding innovative approaches that incorporate community voices into problem-solving processes.

4. Networking Event (1st Floor)
Held after the talk sessions on November 28 at MUJIcom, participants will have the opportunity to engage with speakers, university affiliates, and researchers. The event is open to all with a fee of 2,000 yen for general attendees and 1,000 yen for students; limited capacity applies.
