Sato Masaru, the author, considers this work the culmination of his life experiences. Despite having authored numerous works, this is the first time he has focused on the techniques specific to life after retirement.
In this insightful book, Sato meticulously divides the topic into eight categories, offering practical advice and strategies that readers can begin to implement immediately. Not only is the book beneficial for those already approaching retirement, but it has also garnered favorable opinions from a wider audience, enhancing its appeal.
The Art of Happiness
Sato Masaru shares the wisdom he's accumulated throughout his life, focusing on how to cultivate happiness in our later years. He asserts that reaching retirement can be a turning point where one can embrace joy and fulfillment like never before. He asks bitter questions about what mindset individuals should adopt when they hit the landmark of 60 years.
One of the key takeaways of this book is about maintaining relationships. Sato emphasizes that it is unnecessary to stretch one’s social circle to include people one dislikes. The time left in life should instead be directed towards living without stress and focusing on one’s well-being. He remarks, “This book is the summation of my life so far,” indicating the deeply personal nature of his insights.
