Hitachi Astemo Strengthens Its INDYCAR Partnership
Hitachi Astemo, a prominent player in the automotive industry, has reaffirmed its commitment to the NTT INDYCAR SERIES by extending its partnership with Team Penske for the 14th consecutive year in 2025. This alliance continues to support the No. 2 Dallara/Chevrolet vehicle, piloted by the accomplished driver Josef Newgarden.
Newgarden, a two-time series champion, achieved remarkable feats in the previous seasons, including being the first driver in over two decades to clinch back-to-back Indianapolis 500 victories in 2023 and 2024. These wins also contributed to Team Penske achieving its historic 20th Indy 500 title. Newgarden's exceptional performance resulted in over 30 career INDYCAR victories, underlining his status as the most successful driver in INDYCAR history.
"Winning is all about teamwork," stated Tim Cindric, President of Team Penske. "Josef Newgarden and this No. 2 Hitachi Astemo Chevrolet team are proven winners, yet we still have plenty to prove going into the 2025 season." Newgarden's accolades are impressive, including victories in the 2017 and 2019 INDYCAR SERIES and the 2011 Indy Lights championship.
As part of this celebrated partnership, Hitachi Astemo provides essential fuel-system components for all 2.2-liter twin-turbocharged Chevrolet racing engines utilized in the series. This collaboration played a pivotal role in Chevrolet securing its ninth NTT INDYCAR SERIES Manufacturing Championship since rejoining INDYCAR racing in 2012.
Rob Sharpe, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Hitachi Astemo Americas, expresses optimism for the upcoming season, stating, "We're looking forward to another record-setting partnership year with Chevrolet and Team Penske. With Josef Newgarden in command of the No. 2 Astemo Chevrolet, the outlook for 2025 is a bright one."
An exciting development for the 2025 season is the significant redesign of the No. 2 Penske Chevrolet. The primary color will shift from black to a vibrant red, enhancing the car's visibility on the track. Furthermore, the Astemo name will be prominently displayed on the vehicle's sides and rear wing, signifying the brand's strong presence in the INDYCAR series.
The partnership extension between Team Penske and Hitachi Astemo signifies not only a commitment to a successful racing season but also a strategic collaboration aimed at achieving further milestones in motorsport.
