On June 13, 2025, the Tachibana Museum in Yanagawa, Fukuoka Prefecture, will host an online live tour titled Edo Fire Scroll: A New Perspective. In this exciting event, participants will explore a remarkable 13-meter-long scroll depicting a fire in Edo during the late Edo period, created by renowned artist Haruka Umezawa.

Using a unique format, the live tour enables viewers to interact with the scroll as a navigator guides them through the rich history and cultural context of Edo’s firefighting system, as well as the artistic techniques involved in the scroll's creation.

The Navigator and More

This live event will be guided by Kaori Ueno, the director of the Tachibana Museum. As part of the 10th installment of the popular Tachibana Museum Online Live Series, this tour promises to deliver an immersive experience, where attendees can appreciate the vibrant town culture and audience engagement with breathtaking visuals and stories.

In the second half of the event, attendees will also enjoy a specially crafted video presentation that incorporates motion and sound, enhancing the scroll's narrative. The animation breathes life into Edo’s bustling streets, showcasing scenes of chaos with people fleeing and firefighters bravely battling the flames.
