Vision Base Establishes New Hub in Kitakyushu
Vision Base, headquartered in Tokyo, has announced the opening of its new location in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, named 'Kitakyushu BASE.' This strategic establishment aims to deepen collaboration with local enterprises and accelerate business development rooted in the community.
Kitakyushu: A City at the Forefront of AI Adoption
Historically, Kitakyushu played a significant role in Japan's modernization, yet it now faces serious social issues, including a declining population, particularly among designated cities. The region grapples with challenges related to labor shortages, maintaining community vitality, and the increasing burden on caregiving due to a rapidly aging population. To combat these issues, the city has expressed a strong commitment to its future by declaring itself the first municipality in Japan as an 'AI Utilization Promotion City' in July 2025. This declaration aims not only at improving administrative efficiency and citizen services but also at revitalizing local industries with a robust roadmap and the establishment of a specialized organization focused on 'DX and AI Strategy.'
Vision Base's Commitment to AI Solutions
Since its inception, Vision Base has aimed at resolving social challenges through AI-centric solutions. In the construction industry, where skilled labor is aging, the company is focused on transforming tacit knowledge into structured formats, promoting smooth knowledge transfer to younger generations with its 'AI Chatbot for Technical Succession.' Furthermore, the firm addresses efficiency in report generation for field workers, allowing them to concentrate on their primary responsibilities via the 'Voice AI Report Creation System.' In the caregiving sector, Vision Base offers AI support in creating care plans, alongside systems that reduce the workload for caregivers through monitoring sensors. These initiatives directly tackle the labor shortage and productivity improvement concerns that plague Kitakyushu.
The Role of Kitakyushu BASE
More than just a development center, 'Kitakyushu BASE' is envisioned as a hub for co-creating new value by closely collaborating with local businesses, government entities, and educational institutions. Initially focusing on Kitakyushu and its surroundings, the base aims to facilitate the digital transformation (DX) of various sectors.
1. Promoting Digital Transformation in Local Industries
The city’s core sectors, including manufacturing, construction, logistics, and the healthcare and caregiving fields, will benefit from customized AI solutions. These innovations are geared toward enhancing operational efficiency and boosting productivity. Whether it's quality improvement in manufacturing, construction support, optimal logistics, advanced demand forecasting in retail, or assisting caregivers in developing care plans, Vision Base is committed to tailoring solutions according to industry-specific challenges, ultimately fostering sustainable growth and competitiveness for local businesses.
2. Active Participation in Community Issue Resolution Projects
Vision Base seeks to engage actively in the various community challenges that Kitakyushu faces, such as aging infrastructure, population decline, and public health initiatives. Drawing inspiration from the city’s advanced projects like the 'Road Mirror AI Condition Assessment,' the company aims to leverage its technology to contribute to developing a sustainable urban environment where residents experience genuine prosperity.
3. Nurturing Future AI Talent and Creating Quality Employment
One of the critical missions for 'Kitakyushu BASE' is fostering AI talent and generating job opportunities within the region. Over the next three years, the plan is to hire 50 specialists. Importantly, the recruitment is not limited to experienced candidates; even individuals with no prior experience in AI can grow into skilled AI engineers or data scientists through Vision Base’s tailored training programs. By collaborating with local educational institutions, Vision Base aims to create internships and joint research opportunities, enabling the community's youth to acquire world-class skills while contributing to their local area.
Leadership Vision for Kitakyushu BASE
Miyazaki Yoshitaka, CEO of Vision Base:
'We are immensely proud to establish 'Kitakyushu BASE' in this historically and futuristically rich city, a place with tremendous potential. The ambitious vision of Kitakyushu as an 'AI Utilization Promotion City' resonates with our company’s philosophy, and we are eager to support the community's efforts to confront the challenges of a declining population head-on.
Our goal extends beyond merely providing AI technology. We aspire to revitalize local industries, enrich residents' quality of life, and create a society where future generations can dream big. 'Kitakyushu BASE' stands as a 'collaboration hub' dedicated to making this vision a reality, sending forth the message that 'AI shapes the future of communities' to Japan and beyond.'
Kakizoe Yuta, Head of Kitakyushu BASE:
'Having grown up in Kitakyushu, the city's vibrancy and warmth have shaped my life. Although I’ve witnessed the exacerbation of local issues like labor shortages firsthand, I believe that 'Kitakyushu BASE' can leverage AI to reclaim 'human time' and 'community power.' Our mission with AI is not to replace people but to enhance the time they have to engage meaningfully in work and life.’
