KADOKAWA Ventures Into International Manga with Kadokawa Qingyu Label

KADOKAWA Corporation has made an exciting move in the world of manga by launching the Kadokawa Qingyu Label on its popular manga portal site and app, Kadokomi, starting September 30. This marks a significant milestone as it is the first time KADOKAWA will feature the works of overseas manga artists in their Japanese release, aimed at expanding their global reach and enhancing the manga landscape in Japan.

The newly inaugurated Kadokawa Qingyu Label will focus on introducing original manga works created by talented international artists. The manga will be translated into Japanese, specially curated for Japanese audiences. Each comic will be available in vibrant full color and tailored to match the unique features of the individual stories, offering both vertical scroll manga and page-by-page formats depending on what best suits the narrative.

So far, there are already nine series running on the portal site, and in conjunction with the launch of the new label, KADOKAWA has plans to introduce three new titles that promise to captivate readers with fresh storytelling.

New Series Launching

1. Emotions Evolution by Taji Qian

This thrilling series has already gained acclaim by winning both the Gold Award in Simplified Chinese and the Silver Award for Translation Publishing at the 1st TATESC COMICS Global Awards. The creator, Taji Qian, is known for his bold storytelling style and previously adapted the action RPG Elden Ring into comic form. Emotions Evolution tells an intense horror story set in a city where temperatures soar to an unbearable 52 degrees, offering readers a chilling new experience in panic horror.

2. Nihilistic Writer Under Threat by CuZn

This gripping series earned the Gold Award at the 2nd TATESC COMICS Global Awards. CuZn, an established name in the manga industry with previous works adapted into anime, unfolds a suspenseful and comedic narrative. The story revolves around a struggling writer, who finds himself under surveillance from an unexpected ally—an assassin hired to ensure he completes his manuscript. Expect a unique blend of peril and humor as the two navigate this chaotic scenario.

3. Chongqing Chronicles: A Lone Journey Through Rural Life by BiuBiu

Awarded the Silver Prize at the 1st TATESC COMICS Global Awards, this series has topped 30 million views in China, leading to its debut on Kadokomi. It follows the poignant journey of a protagonist returning to their hometown in Chongqing, bridging connections with childhood friends and local residents. This heartfelt story beautifully represents the process of personal reinvention amidst rural surroundings.
