Veritas Vineyards Transitions to Local Ownership with Vision for Future

Veritas Vineyards: A New Chapter in Local Ownership

Veritas Vineyards & Winery, renowned as one of the premier vino-tourism spots in Virginia, has announced a significant transition in its ownership structure. This pioneering winery, founded in 1999 by Patricia and Andrew Hodson, will soon be acquired by Veritas Legacy Partners, LLC, ensuring the winery's legacy continues under local stewardship.

The formation of Veritas Legacy Partners has been embraced warmly, as the new ownership promises to uphold the values established by the Hodsons. Kurt Wassenaar, a Charlottesville entrepreneur and architect, alongside Eric Trebour from the Trebour Family investment group, will jointly manage the winery, collectively bringing their experience and commitment to prospering this cherished establishment.

Emphasizing Heritage and Quality

The commitment to maintaining high standards is clear. Wassenaar expressed confidence in the wines crafted by acclaimed Head Winemaker Emily Hodson, emphasizing that no drastic changes will be made that could compromise what makes Veritas unique. “We are acquiring one of the top winery destinations East of the Mississippi because we believe in the quality of the wines made by Emily Hodson and the world-class hospitality the Veritas team has built,” he stated.

The Hodson family, while stepping back from ownership, remains intrinsic to the winery's future. Emily Hodson will continue in her role as Head Winemaker and will be an essential part of the executive team, ensuring the winery's quality remains uncompromised. Additionally, George Hodson will continue to serve as CEO, guiding the new leadership through a period of transition while preserving the familial ties to this remarkable vineyard.

Looking Ahead

The acquisition is still subject to various approvals but is expected to finalize early this summer. All existing operations will continue seamlessly, protecting Wine Club memberships, reservations at the Farmhouse, tasting room experiences, and private events as they were under the previous ownership.

Patricia and Andrew Hodson conveyed their satisfaction with the outcome of this transition, recognizing that it ensures the winery’s stewardship aligns with their original vision. This handover appears to be in good hands, with the promising ability to not only maintain the legacy but also to help propel it into the future. “Passing the stewardship of this land onto partners who share our vision is the best possible outcome for our family,” they remarked.

The Veritas Experience

Founded against the backdrop of the picturesque Blue Ridge foothills, Veritas Vineyards has played a crucial role in putting Virginia wine on the map. The estate is not only recognized for its acclaimed wines but also serves as a hub for hospitality in the area, hosting various events from unforgettable weddings to corporate gatherings. The luxurious Farmhouse, with its renowned fine dining, elevates the Veritas experience further, making it a must-visit for both locals and tourists.

As Veritas Vineyards steps into this new era with local ownership, the dedication to quality wine and hospitality remains untarnished, promising an exciting journey ahead for both the venue and its patrons. With the commitment of the new partners and the continued involvement of the Hodson family, the future looks bright for this iconic Virginia winery.
