MobED is equipped with cutting-edge eccentric mechanisms that provide precise posture control and seamless terrain adaptation. This allows the platform to work effectively on uneven or sloped surfaces, demonstrating sturdy balance and functionality across various environments. Key attributes include:
- - Eccentric Mechanism: Dynamically adjusts height and posture to stabilize the platform on different surfaces.
- - Seamless Terrain Navigation: Adapts from narrow indoor corridors to diverse outdoor landscapes.
- - Automotive-Grade Engineering: Combines durability with precision, scaling lab-level technology for real-world applications.
This capability eliminates the need for designing robots for specific environments, enabling MobED to automatically adjust its movements based on terrain conditions.
Intuitive Autonomy: Robotics for Everyone
MobED simplifies autonomous driving technology, making it accessible to everyone, regardless of expertise. Its prominent features include:
- - Intuitive Control Interface: A large touchscreen controller and intuitive 3D UI/UX ensure ease of operation.
- - Safe Navigation: AI-enabled sensors, combining LiDAR and cameras, facilitate autonomous obstacle detection and avoidance.
- - High-Precision Self-Driving: Predictive navigation algorithms ensure safe movement, even in congested or confined spaces.
This intuitive design merges safety with operational ease, making robotics accessible to a broader audience.
Infinite Journey: A Multi-Purpose Platform
As a modular platform, MobED enables applications in various sectors, including delivery, research, logistics, and media production. Notable features include:
- - Customizable Module Design: Universal mount rails and APIs enable easy integration of attachments for varied tasks.
- - Seamless Indoor and Outdoor Operations: Operates smoothly across environments, reducing the need for dedicated robots and lowering costs.
- - Future-Ready Solutions: Equips users to adapt to evolving demands, ensuring long-term reliability and robust structure.
In essence, MobED expands the possibilities of robotics, offering flexibility and scalability unseen in traditional robots.
Models of MobED
Hyundai offers MobED in two differentiated versions to meet diverse needs:
- - MobED Pro: Features advanced autonomy, integrating additional sensors and functionalities like LiDAR-camera fusion and a “Follow Me” mode. This model is ideal for outdoor or commercial applications requiring reliable autonomous navigation.
- - MobED Basic: Designed as a foundation for research and development without pre-installed autonomous functionalities, allowing users to build their applications in a flexible environment.
With these two models, MobED maintains adaptability while expanding the application of robotics technology across industries.
The Design of MobED
The design of MobED embodies a “Refined Edge,” harmonizing straight lines with flowing curves. It represents technological precision combined with aesthetic sophistication. The straight lines convey strong functional intent, while the integrated sensors and Drive-and-Lift (DnL) module enhance visual balance and quality.
Constructed from high-quality metal materials, MobED achieves uncompromised linearity, transitioning seamlessly into elegant curves that highlight its dynamic movements. The refined surface reflections further accentuate its designs, showcasing the brilliance of engineering behind its creation.
The result is a robotics platform that merges practicality with sophistication, demonstrating Hyundai's commitment to innovation and design excellence.
Engineering Innovations of MobED
At the core of MobED lies its unique Drive-and-Lift (DnL) module, which integrates posture control, drive, and steering motors for seamless multi-directional movement. This system’s eccentric-based posture control mechanism maintains the vehicle's horizontal balance, adapting dynamically to uneven or sloped surfaces.
Inspired by multi-joint robotics, an optimized control algorithm ensures superior stability on irregular terrain and reliable navigation around obstacles like curbs. These engineering advancements enable MobED to operate effectively in demanding industrial, outdoor, and indoor environments.
In terms of navigation, MobED combines LiDAR sensors and cameras to recognize its surroundings in real-time. This system supports predictive navigation, dynamically avoiding obstacles, generating optimal routes, and recognizing or tracking moving objects. Utilizing AI detection systems guarantees reliable and secure operations even in busy or confined spaces.
MobED's innovative operation includes a user-friendly large touchscreen and intuitive 3D UI/UX for smooth functionality, including self-mapping, precision positioning, and autonomous driving.
By integrating adaptability, accuracy, and autonomy, MobED sets a new standard in robotics engineering.
Experience MobED Live at iREX 2025
Hyundai Motor Group is showcasing MobED at the iREX 2025 exhibition from December 3rd to 6th. Visitors can engage with the platform at the group’s booth (West Hall 3-4, W3-44), where live demonstrations will display its precision and adaptability across various terrains. Both MobED Pro and Basic models will perform applications including loading/unloading, delivery, golfing, urban hopping, and broadcasting, showcasing the advanced technologies that enhance autonomous driving and charging capabilities.
Additionally, a technical seminar titled “A novel hybrid-type Mobile Robot Platform: MobED” will be held on December 3rd at Tokyo Big Sight, West Hall 4, from 11:30 to 12:10. This seminar will provide insights into the vision and strategy of the Robotics LAB, as well as the technologies and key features integrated into MobED.
