Costa Rica Showcases 11 Companies at Cannes Film Festival 2026
Costa Rica's Remarkable Presence at the Cannes Film Festival 2026
From May 12 to 20, Costa Rica has proudly joined the ranks of global cinema at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, featuring a delegation of 11 enterprises dedicated to the audiovisual sector. Among the highlights is the premiere of the film _Siempre soy tu animal materno_, directed by the talented Valentina Maurel.
The film was selected for the 'Un Certain Regard' section of the festival, marking a significant milestone as it becomes the second production from Costa Rica to be showcased in this official category, following the screening of _Domingo y la Niebla_ in 2022. Valentina Maurel expressed her gratitude for the opportunity and noted that this recognition provides a platform for sharing Costa Rican narratives with a global audience.
Led by PROCOMER (Costa Rican Agency for the Promotion of Foreign Trade), the delegation also includes esteemed companies such as Café Cinema, Café Televisión, and Low Light Films among others, which are engaged in various aspects of audiovisual production, post-production, and distribution.
Laura Lopez, the director general of PROCOMER, stated, “Costa Rica's participation in Cannes aligns with our ongoing commitment to establish our presence in the international audiovisual industry. By promoting our talents and content, we aim to attract foreign investments in our productions.
