Sabanci Renewables Expands Presence in the U.S. with Meta Partnership on Solar Projects
Sabanci Renewables Expands U.S. Growth with Meta Partnership
Sabanci Renewables, a subsidiary of renowned Türkiye-based company Sabanci Holding, is making significant strides in the U.S. renewable energy market. On June 22, 2026, the company announced a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with tech giant Meta, marking a significant milestone in Sabanci's U.S. endeavors. This agreement covers two solar energy projects located in Texas, namely Lucky 7 Solar and Pepper Solar, which together have a total capacity of 220 MWac / 286 MWdc.
Growing Renewable Energy Portfolio
The Lucky 7 project, with a capacity of 100 MWac / 130 MWdc, alongside the 120 MWac / 156 MWdc Pepper Solar project, is expected to be completed in the latter half of 2027. By forging this partnership with Meta, Sabanci Renewables is not only expanding its U.S. portfolio but is also contributing to the long-term energy security required by large organizations like Meta, which are increasingly relying on renewable energy sources.
The PPA ensures that Meta will be utilizing 100% of the environmental attributes from the energy produced by these solar projects, thus aligning with its commitment to sustainability and clean energy use.
Economic and Local Benefits
The development of the Lucky 7 and Pepper Solar projects is projected to generate over 600 jobs during the construction phase, with further long-term employment opportunities available once operational. Additionally, these projects will bring lasting economic advantages to local communities, including an expected more than $30 million in total property tax revenues for local taxing entities throughout the lifespan of the projects.
As Texas faces an increasing demand for reliable energy sources, the addition of these renewable projects will enhance the state's existing energy infrastructure within the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) market, notably addressing the need for sustainable, green energy solutions.
Strategic Growth and Partnership Vision
Tolga Kaan Doğancıoğlu, Strategic Investments and Operations President at Sabanci Group, expressed optimism around the agreement with Meta. He stated, "Entering this long-term renewable energy agreement is an important step for Sabanci Renewables as we continue to grow our presence in the United States. It marks another strategic milestone in our U.S. market journey and reinforces our focus on building durable partnerships with institutional and corporate off-takers."
Meta's engagement in this project echoes its mission to foster sustainable partnerships. Amanda Yang, Head of Clean and Renewable Energy at Meta, emphasized the importance of such collaborations, stating, “We’re excited to support the development of the Lucky 7 and Pepper solar projects, which will add new solar capacity to the Texas grid. This long-term agreement with Sabanci Renewables reflects the kind of partnerships we value—ones that bring meaningful new energy resources online.”
Emphasis on Renewable Energy Investment
This strategic move by Sabanci Renewables demonstrates its ongoing commitment to long-term contracted renewable energy investments in the United States. The company is focused on not only developing but also building renewable projects that provide scalable and reliable electricity generation capacity, which is crucial for the evolving needs of large corporations and organizations operating in the U.S. market.
Overall, the collaboration between Sabanci Renewables and Meta signifies a step forward in the drive toward a cleaner energy future, benefiting both the environment and local economies while setting a benchmark for future renewable energy projects in the region.
