UnionPay Unveils Exciting Summer Campaign for Travelers

On July 20, 2025, UnionPay International announced the launch of its 2025 Global Summer Campaign, specifically tailored to cater to the needs of international travelers during the peak vacation season. The initiative is set to offer an array of exclusive benefits to UnionPay cardholders visiting popular destinations worldwide. With more than 100,000 partner merchants across 25 sought-after travel locations, the campaign promises substantial discounts, favorable currency exchange rates, and cashback offers that will elevate the shopping, dining, and travel experiences of users globally.

"Summer is a time for beautiful memories, and we want UnionPay to be a part of that," remarked Zhuang Bei, Vice President of UnionPay International. He emphasized that whether shopping in Paris, dining in Tokyo, or exploring family-friendly theme parks in Singapore, this summer campaign is all about making every experience more affordable, enjoyable, and unforgettable.

The timing of this year's campaign aligns with a notable surge in international travel, particularly to destinations in Asia and Europe, which have grown increasingly popular among holidaymakers. Statistics reveal a sharp rise in bookings for countries like Japan, South Korea, Italy, France, and the United Kingdom. In response to this trend, UnionPay has considerably expanded its global network of merchants, forging partnerships with retailers at 35 international airports and over 60 major shopping centers to ensure that cardholders unlock exclusive summer privileges.

Additionally, UnionPay has established collaborations with leading duty-free groups, prominent department stores, and outlet centers, crafting exclusive discounts on popular global brands. UnionPay cardholders will also find opportunities to save at over 3,500 local restaurants, cafes, and fish markets, with immediate offers available via platforms like Dianping and Uber Eats.

For families traveling during school vacations, UnionPay has partnered with eight globally recognized attractions to introduce unique thematic offerings. Locations such as Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore and Royal Caribbean's Spectrum of the Seas cruise ship will provide UnionPay users with cashback or instant discounts when spending meets specific minimum thresholds.

Benefits extend to various transportation options as well. UnionPay cardholders can enjoy special offers when booking tickets with international airlines like Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, Turkish Airlines, and Air China. Moreover, UnionPay discounts are available for travelers charging transit cards in Japan and the SVR Hong Kong, as well as those making payments with J-Coin Pay in Japan and ZeroPay in South Korea, which could yield savings of up to 10%.

In its commitment to supporting global retail through travel savings, UnionPay continues to provide Chinese travelers with competitive exchange rates across more than 30 destinations, including Southeast Asia, Japan, South Korea, Europe, and the Middle East. Cardholders registering via the UnionPay app will qualify for better exchange rates upon reaching specified spending amounts. Furthermore, 16 partner banks across mainland China, including prominent institutions like ICBC, ABC, BOC, CCB, and CMB, offer cashback incentives of up to 12% on cross-border transactions, thereby enhancing customer frequency at global outlets.

For those entering China, over 40 international banks now issue the UnionPay SplendorPlus Card, which features exclusive cashback and promotional activities for expenditures during their stay in China.

With presence in 183 countries and regions, more than 73 million online and offline merchants, and 1.7 million ATMs globally, UnionPay is reinforcing its position as a leading cross-border payment solution. Through this Global Summer Campaign, UnionPay International is committed to delivering value, convenience, and reliability to travelers at every step of their journey.
