Okayama University Archery Club's Yamauchi Wins Championship in Shikoku Region

Triumph of Precision: Yamauchi's Victory in Archery

In a stunning display of skill and determination, Tomoyuki Yamauchi, a third-year engineering student at Okayama University, secured the individual title at the 71st Shikoku Student Archery Championship held on October 3-5, 2025, at the Matsuyama Community Center in Ehime Prefecture. This victory marks a significant achievement for both Yamauchi and the Okayama University Archery Club, reflecting the collective efforts of the team.

The competition saw participants from 28 schools, totaling 235 archers vying for the championship. Yamauchi's journey to victory began with a strong performance in the preliminary rounds, achieving a remarkable five hits out of six shots. This impressive display earned him a spot in the finals, where he faced off against promising competitors from various universities.

In the decisive moments of the final match, Yamauchi showcased extraordinary composure. After successfully hitting the fifth target, he moved on to the eight-inch target, a challenging and significantly smaller target requiring high precision. His ability to maintain focus under pressure enabled him to secure victory against his rivals in what was an exhilarating shoot-off.

Reflecting on his achievement, Yamauchi expressed his gratitude stating, "I was really happy to be able to shoot calmly and perform my best. I believe this victory is thanks to the hard work we have all put in as a team, including my seniors, juniors, and classmates. A huge thank you to everyone who supported us."

The captain of the archery club, Atsushi Hira, also shared his thoughts on the finale, saying, "Yamauchi displayed remarkable stability during the deciding shots. It felt like all the efforts that have led us here came together in this moment. I hope this victory inspires our whole team to reach for even greater heights in the future."

As the Okayama University Archery Club looks forward to upcoming competitions, this victory is not just a testament to Yamauchi's talent but also a reflection of the club's dedication and passion for the sport.
