GAC's Feng Xingya Emphasizes User-Centric Approach for Sustainable Green Mobility Solutions

GAC's Commitment to User-Centric Green Solutions

At the recent 7th World New Energy Vehicle Congress (WNEVC) held on September 27, Feng Xingya, the Chairman and President of GAC Group, articulated the company's vision and strategy aimed at fostering a sustainable future in mobility. The central theme of Feng’s speech was “User-Defined Green, Co-Creating a New Future for Mobility,” emphasizing the need to focus on user needs while transitioning towards green solutions. He advocated for a user-centric approach that creatively morphed advanced technology into targeted solutions, making green mobility practical and accessible.

Recognized as a Fortune Global 500 company for 14 consecutive years, and a staple in the Fortune China ESG Impact List for four years, GAC is no stranger to sustainable practices. Since launching its GLASS Initiative in 2021, GAC strives to manage carbon emissions throughout a vehicle's lifecycle. This initiative is structured around four essential pillars: green technology, green products, green manufacturing, and green ecosystems. With aspirations of achieving full lifecycle carbon neutrality by the year 2050, GAC remains steadfast in its commitment to ensure a safe and reliable green mobility experience.

Green Technology Initiatives

In the realm of green technology, GAC is exploring diverse avenues, striving to deliver various clean mobility options. The company focuses on parallel advancements across Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs), hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and range-extended platforms. This diversity ensures users have access to a multitude of eco-friendly transport choices.

Prioritizing User Safety and Experience

Moving to green products, GAC emphasizes not only sustainability but also user safety and intelligent experiences. For instance, their manufacturing processes are driven by sustainable practices, where high standards are a prerequisite. Recent acclaim was received with GAC scooping up three awards at the 2025 China Automotive Quality Research (AQR).

Building a Green Ecosystem

GAC's strategy also extends to creating a larger green ecosystem. They are rapidly propelling the “26 Energy Action” strategy which interlinks solar energy production, energy storage, fast charging stations, and battery swapping services to build an integrated service network for electric vehicles. This holistic approach ensures that all facets of sustainability are covered, further reinforcing GAC’s position as a leader in green mobility.

Global Perspective

While GAC’s strategies have strong roots in the Chinese market, they are equally ambitious on a global scale. The company is keen on becoming a contributor to low-carbon, intelligent mobility, advancing its “One GAC 2.0” strategy globally. This entails leveraging China’s expertise in new energy and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives to cater to global customers effectively. At the Fortune Global 500 Summit, Feng highlighted China’s leadership role in new energy and low-carbon development and actively promotes localization in its global strategies.

Currently, GAC has established five KD plants (knockdown assembly plants) worldwide, with plans to double that figure to ten in the upcoming year. This shift is critical as it transitions from merely exporting vehicles to instituting localized production methods.

Committing to Local Markets

GAC's commitment is grounded in the principle of “in Local, for Local, integrated locally, serving locally,” capturing the essence of delivering smart green mobility solutions tailored to the specific needs of various markets. This strategic focus is integral for elevating GAC's presence and effectiveness in the global automotive landscape.

By marrying advanced technology with user necessities and harnessing sustainability as a core value, GAC looks to redefine the future of mobility as a journey towards greener living and enhanced user experiences. The company’s forward-thinking initiatives signal a robust approach to ushering the automotive industry into a sustainable era, creating well-rounded benefits for both users and the environment alike.
