Carnival Cruise Line has launched its newest ship, the Carnival Destiny, marking a significant milestone in the cruise industry. The traditional steel-cutting ceremony was held at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, on July 11, 2026, showcasing the ship's name and projecting its future appearance through 3D holograms for the first time.
This project continues Carnival's longstanding collaboration with Fincantieri, a partnership that has thrived for over 30 years, dating back to the original Carnival Destiny, which was once the world’s largest cruise ship. The Carnival Destiny is poised to redefine the cruise experience, with advanced designs that will immerse passengers in ocean views like never before. The ship's layout includes a variety of features such as unprecedented numbers of ocean-view balcony cabins and a reimagined outdoor promenade, all designed to maximize the visual experience of the sea.
Unique to the Carnival Destiny are over 4.5 acres of glass structures that enhance visibility throughout the ship through multi-dimensional glass walls. These features are aimed at ensuring that the ocean's beauty is a constant companion during every journey, fundamentally changing passengers' connection with the sea. Carnival officials, led by President Christine Duffy, emphasize the importance of this ship in continuing a legacy that has historically reshaped the cruising industry. With more than 70% of the ship’s spaces and entertainment venues featuring completely new concepts, guests can expect a fresh dining experience, new-generation bars and lounges, immersive entertainment, and vibrant outdoor areas.
