Mynavi's Commitment to Dance Events Continues
Mynavi Corporation has once again solidified its role as the official sponsor for two significant dance events:
DANCEALIVE 2026, the largest street dance competition globally, and the
HIGH SCHOOL DANCE COMPETITION 2026, Japan's premier high school dance contest. This marks the eighth consecutive year of collaboration with these prestigious events, affirming Mynavi's dedication to promoting dance culture in Japan.
Overview of the Events
DANCEALIVE is renowned for its one-on-one format where dancers face off, improvising to music chosen solely by the DJ. Dancers strive to gain the favor of the judges, with a simple yet exciting rule: the performer who receives the most votes emerges victorious. As the competition unfolds, participants engage in fierce battles across a range of genres—HOUSE, BREAKING, HIPHOP, ALL STYLES, and now the newly introduced POPPING category, enhancing the vibrancy of street dance.
This year's event is scheduled for April 2026, culminating in an exhilarating finals showdown. The competition's structure includes regional heats across eight different areas in Japan, paving the way for aspiring dancers to showcase their talents on a national stage. Alongside the traditional categories, this season introduces the POPPING genre, allowing dancers to express themselves in a manner that resonates with a broader audience.
The Introduction of a New Genre: POPPING
The addition of POPPING to DANCEALIVE creates an opportunity for performance diversity. Dancers designated as
POPPERS utilize intricate muscle control to interpret the beats and rhythm of the music. Throughout the season, preliminary rounds will be held twice in both the Kanto and Kansai regions, culminating in the selection of eight finalists who will compete for the title.
High School Dance Competition 2026
Founded in 2015, the
HIGH SCHOOL DANCE COMPETITION invites students from high schools and equivalent educational institutions to participate in this competitive dance challenge. Each year, this contest spotlights the exceptional talents of Japan's youth and aims to identify the top high school dance group. The genre-specific brackets allow students to collaborate and refine their craft while vying for the prestigious title.
Teams that advance from the regional qualifiers will have the opportunity to participate in the grand final event in April 2026. Participants will benefit from new performance slots, expanding the opportunities for talented dancers to make an impact. Moreover, the introduction of a final challenge based on a point-ranking system post-qualification will further enhance the competitive dynamics this season.
