Will Group Launches Foreign Construction Management Staffing Service
As part of its commitment to address the critical labor shortage in Japan's construction industry, Will Group's subsidiary, Will of Construction, has officially rolled out its foreign construction management staffing service. This initiative aims to recruit 200 foreign engineers by the fiscal year 2025, with an ambitious goal of placing 170 of these individuals into various roles across the industry.
Collaborations with Indonesian Universities
To achieve these targets, Will of Construction has begun recruiting talent from Indonesia, Nepal, Mongolia, and Myanmar. In Indonesia, the company is forming partnerships with three universities: Bina Nusantara University, Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta, and Universitas Trisakti. Through job fairs and informational sessions, the company is aiming to attract highly qualified graduates from these institutions who specialize in construction-related disciplines. Once hired, these individuals will join Will of Construction as full-time employees and will be deployed to construction companies across Japan as site managers.
Addressing the Labor Shortage
The construction sector in Japan is facing immense challenges in recruiting young Japanese professionals in the fields of architecture, civil engineering, electrical engineering, and other related specialties. This is in part due to declining retention rates and a shortage of candidates. Conversely, the number of foreign construction managers has been on the rise, driven by the influx of skilled workers through training programs and specialized visas. The demand for foreign engineers has become apparent, especially for managerial roles that require effective communication and quality control on-site.
Furthermore, there are many highly skilled individuals abroad who possess the necessary training and knowledge but face barriers to entering the Japanese market. By focusing on those aspiring to gain certification as first-class construction project managers during the local hiring phase, Will of Construction has noticed significantly higher retention rates among newly recruited engineers.
Unique Hiring Process
Will of Construction capitalizes on its recruitment expertise by conducting tailored company presentations and interviews in each target country. The company has established unique hiring standards to ensure the selection of top-tier candidates. Additionally, it has implemented a structured evaluation system to minimize discrepancies among interviewers, ultimately enhancing the quality of the talent pool.
With a goal of employing 200 foreign construction management engineers by 2025, the company aims to continuously strengthen its partnerships abroad, addressing Japan's labor shortages in the construction sector while promoting a diverse and sustainable work environment.
Benefits of Graduates from Partnered Universities
Through its alliances with universities, Will of Construction has secured a stable foundation for talent acquisition. The partnerships facilitate job fairs and offer graduates from partner institutions opportunities for employment in Japan. Students are also provided with language training and relevant skill workshops before they arrive in Japan, thus easing their transition. Once in Japan, these new employees will continue to receive support in terms of language training, qualification assistance, and social integration efforts with Japanese coworkers.
By prioritizing the recruitment of engineering aspirants, Will of Construction positions itself to contribute positively to long-term employment prospects within the construction industry.
