Coral Care Secures $13 Million to Enhance Pediatric Therapy Access Across the U.S.

Coral Care Secures $13 Million to Expand Pediatric Therapy Services

Coral Care, a pioneering platform dedicated to enhancing access to in-home pediatric therapy, has recently announced that it has secured $13 million in a Series A funding round, primarily led by Haymaker Ventures. The round also saw contributions from other prominent investors including FCA Ventures and Peterson Ventures, among others. This substantial funding comes at a time when the need for accessible developmental therapy is more crucial than ever for families navigating complex healthcare systems.

Expanding the Reach of Pediatric Therapy

The influx of funding is designed to accelerate Coral Care's mission to expand its operations across major U.S. markets, particularly in newly launched areas such as Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh. With this growth, the organization aims to deliver vital services in speech, occupational, and physical therapy to a wider demographic.

Currently operating in several states including Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Texas, Illinois, and Pennsylvania, Coral Care connects families with licensed therapists, enabling insurance-covered in-home therapy that significantly improves access. This model is especially beneficial, as evidence indicates that families who receive therapy at home tend to continue services for extended periods, with over 75% of families engaged for more than four months.

Addressing Systematic Barriers in Pediatric Care

The founder, Jen Wirt, established Coral Care after experiencing firsthand the challenges of finding appropriate therapy for her daughter. She faced lengthy waitlists, intricate insurance requirements, and a lack of available practitioners. This inspired her to create a platform that simplifies the process of accessing necessary developmental care.

"We're constructing a care infrastructure that promotes the scaling of pediatric therapy without sacrificing its personal touch," said Wirt, who also serves as the company's CEO. Coral Care's approach not only emphasizes expanded access but also aims to empower therapists, allowing them to manage flexible working schedules while providing essential services to families.

A Modern Approach to Therapy Delivery

The journey from traditional therapy delivery to a technology-driven model is reshaping how families and practitioners interact. Coral Care uses a proprietary software platform that optimizes scheduling, documentation, billing, and credentialing, which significantly decreases administrative burdens on providers — averaging a reduction of up to 15 hours weekly. This allows therapists to dedicate more time directly to patient care, enhancing the quality of therapy delivered in a child's own environment.

By facilitating therapy in more familiar settings, Coral Care aims to enhance the effectiveness of treatment through real-world applications. Therapists now cater to a wide range of needs, from speech and language development to motor coordination and sensory processing, thereby addressing the holistic needs of each child.

Looking to the Future

With the new capital and a growing network of over 400 licensed clinicians committed to the cause, Coral Care is focused on expanding its reach even further. Plans for continued growth include new geographic markets, an increase in clinic network connections, and an investment in technological advancements to support their in-home care model.

Coral Care stands at the frontier of a much-needed transformation in pediatric care, aiming to modernize therapy accessibility while supporting both families and the therapists who serve them. As they continue to break down barriers and enhance service delivery, Coral Care is committed to building a future where children’s developmental needs are met with the urgency and compassion they deserve.
