Circle K Opens Its First European EV Charging-Only Store in Gothenburg

Circle K has officially inaugurated its first electric vehicle (EV) charging-only store in Europe, strategically located in Gårda, a district near downtown Gothenburg, Sweden. This groundbreaking store showcases ten ultra-fast charging stations, marking it as the largest EV charging-focused convenience store within the global Circle K network. The store covers an area of 100 square meters (approximately 1,076 square feet), dedicated entirely to providing a comprehensive range of services for electric vehicle users.

A Milestone for Mobility

Hans-Olav Høidahl, Senior Vice President of Global Operations and Electric Mobility in Europe, emphasized the significance of this new location in advancing Circle K's commitment to electric mobility. He noted, "Our new location in Gårda represents a critical step in our ambition to cater to electric vehicle customers by offering easy and convenient charging solutions along with a complete retail experience. This space has been designed with our customers' needs in mind, featuring ultra-fast charging stations, a variety of food and beverage options, free Wi-Fi, and ample seating. It serves as a safe haven for travelers on the road and a major leap toward our goal of being the preferred destination for on-the-go charging throughout Europe."

Prime Location

The Gårda site is strategically positioned along the E6 highway, which sees over 100,000 vehicles passing daily, alongside approximately 10,000 individuals working in the vicinity. The ten ultra-fast, 400 kW charging stations enable electric vehicle batteries to charge from 0 to 80% in just around 15 minutes. Meanwhile, customers can enjoy fresh pizzas, kebabs, and high-quality sausages in a comfortable gathering space that adds value and convenience to the neighborhood.

Expanding EV Infrastructure

The opening of the Gårda site follows Circle K's recent launch of the largest EV charging center in Järna, Sweden. The company is rapidly enhancing its EV charging infrastructure across Europe and North America. Currently, Circle K's European network boasts over 3,000 branded charging stations, and it continues to expand swiftly to meet the increasing demand for electric vehicle charging facilities.
