Spotlight on San Francisco's Culinary Delights at Winter FancyFaire 2027

As the specialty food industry's most anticipated event approaches, the Winter FancyFaire scheduled from January 17-19, 2027, in San Francisco promises to immerse attendees in an extraordinary culinary adventure. The Specialty Food Association (SFA) has unveiled that the second annual Campus Tasting Trail will feature a selection of prominent local restaurants, showcasing the rich flavors of the city’s diverse food culture.

A Culinary Exploration

Winding through three historic neighborhoods, the Campus Tasting Trail not only celebrates the vibrant legacy of San Francisco’s food scene but also marks a new phase of growth for the specialty food marketplace. This unique experience invites attendees to taste an array of expertly curated tasting menus that incorporate products showcased at the event, allowing fans and industry professionals alike to discover new specialty offerings.

Featured Restaurants

At the heart of the tasting trail are three standout restaurants, each representing the unique culinary traditions and vibrant neighborhoods of San Francisco:

  • - A Mano (Saturday, January 16): Nestled in the stylish Hayes Valley, A Mano is famous for its house-made pasta and artisanal pizzas, paired with expertly crafted cocktails. This lively venue captures the essence of communal dining with its emphasis on fresh ingredients and Italian cuisine.

  • - Canela (Sunday, January 17): Located in the colorful Castro district, Chef Mat Schuster’s Canela enchantingly celebrates Spanish culture through its delectable tapas, paella, and an extensive wine selection. It’s a warm bistro that promises to transport diners straight to the heart of Spain.

  • - China Live (Monday, January 18): In the historical Chinatown, China Live offers an immersive dining experience that combines Chinese restaurant culture with a cocktail bar and retail shop. This cultural hub invites guests to explore a variety of authentic flavors while learning about the heritage of Chinese cuisine.

Your Invitation to the Tasting Trail

Applications to participate in the Campus Tasting Trail are currently open for all Winter FancyFaire
exhibitors. Brands interested in showcasing their products alongside these culinary delights can apply through the SFA’s official platform. Note that applications will close on October 2, 2026.

A Thriving Food Scene

Winter FancyFaire 2027 marks SFA’s long-awaited return to San Francisco since 2020. With a predicted influx of over 24 million tourists by the end of 2026, the city is experiencing a rebound in both tourism and convention business, which has increased by more than 60% since 2024. This renaissance makes it a fitting backdrop for the Winter FancyFaire, where innovative showcases await.

Leana Salamah, SFA’s Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications, expressed enthusiasm about returning to “one of America's greatest food cities.” She emphasized San Francisco's exciting phase of growth and reinvention and is confident it will energize attendees looking for fresh culinary insights and sampling experiences throughout the event.

More Than Just Tasting

This second edition of Winter FancyFaire
will delight visitors with enhanced sampling opportunities beyond the Campus Tasting Trail. Among the highlights are the Discovery Kitchen—a live demonstration stage where leading chefs will utilize exhibitor products—and the First Taste Table, which offers curated tasting experiences in an intimate setting.

Furthermore, the event will recognize the 2027 sofi Award winners, spotlighting excellence within the specialty food industry, and announce the coveted Trend of the Year on Sunday evening, January 17.

With over 1,000 exhibitors ready to showcase their products, attend the Debut District that highlights new innovations, and enjoy the Good Food Mercantile—all of which encompass Winter FancyFaire's unique approach to the specialty food trade show.

Registration is open for qualified members of the specialty food trade, along with industry affiliates and media personnel, marking January 2027 as the season’s kick-off for the specialty food sector. However, early birds should act quickly, as prices will rise after September 19, 2026.
