Transforming Business Operations: AI Agents Take Center Stage at Okayama University Seminar

On July 17, 2026, Okayama University, under the leadership of President Yoshitomo Nas, hosted a significant seminar entitled "AI Agents: The Frontier of Business Transformation" at the Okayama University 50th Anniversary Memorial Hall located on its Tsushima campus. This event showcased the latest trends and practical applications of AI agents in corporate environments, with participation from approximately 130 attendees, including OI-Start member companies, university students, and members of the public.

The seminar unfolded in two main parts: a series of keynote speeches followed by a panel discussion.

Keynote Presentations

In the first segment, three distinguished speakers with notable expertise in AI business and research took the stage. The first speaker, Ryuta Hamamoto, CEO of TIMEWELL and a special associate professor at Shinshu University, shared his real-world experiences in developing and operating AI agents within a business context. He emphasized the often-overlooked aspects of AI agents, providing insights that go beyond surface-level understanding.

Following him, Masahiko Kamino, COO of Ascent Business Consulting, discussed the transformative potential of AI agents in the workplace. He provided a practical framework for integrating AI agents into business operations, supported by demonstrations that highlighted their significance in enhancing productivity and operational efficiency.

Lastly, Kentaro Sasano, a designated professor at Okayama University specializing in industry-academia collaboration, introduced a novel concept—"Cultivating AI Agents"—focusing on how businesses can tailor these agents to fit their organizational needs. He elucidated foundational knowledge required to nurture AI agents effectively, making the complex subject accessible to all attendees.

Interactive Panel Discussion

The second part of the seminar featured a dynamic panel discussion with the three speakers acting as panelists. Moderated by Professor Yasunori Nogami, President of OI-Start and a faculty member at the Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology, the discussion revolved around the future use of AI in various companies. This session prioritized interactive engagement, prompting lively discussions and questions from the audience, thereby allowing participants to delve deeper into the practical implications of AI agents in real-world scenarios.

Participants recognized the seminar as an invaluable opportunity to gather insights about enhancing productivity through the deployment of AI agents, leaving them with a wealth of new ideas.
