Almaty Open Awarded ATP Excellence Award Recognizing Tennis Success
Almaty Open Receives Prestigious ATP Excellence Award
The Kazakhstan Tennis Federation has announced exciting news regarding the Almaty Open, which has been awarded the ATP Excellence Award, highlighting its status as one of the foremost ATP 250 tournaments globally. This accolade reflects the tournament's commitment to delivering exceptional experiences for both athletes and fans, as well as its alignment with ATP's competitive standards.
The recognition was presented during the ATP Awards Ceremony held in Turin, Italy, and is based on feedback from players regarding tournament organization, playing conditions, and quality of service. This achievement underscores the success of the Almaty Open in promoting a high standard of tennis while appealing to both local and international audiences.
In the Asia-Pacific region, only three tournaments received this honor this year: Dubai (ATP 500), Shanghai (ATP 1000), and Almaty (ATP 250). This distinction cements the Open de Almaty as the sole ATP 250 event in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), reinforcing its unique position within the professional tennis calendar.
Yuri Polskiy, President of the Almaty Open organizing committee and Vice President of the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation, expressed his joy at receiving such a prestigious award from the ATP for the first time. He stated, “This achievement reflects our unwavering commitment to providing top-tier sporting experiences for players and fans alike. The tournament's standards are part of a long-term strategy led by our president, Bulat Utemuratov, aimed at elevating the Almaty Open to ATP 500 status, which would attract more world-class tennis stars to Kazakhstan and further boost the popularity and development of the sport nationwide.”
The Almaty Open 2025 took place from October 11 to 19, where Daniil Medvedev claimed the men’s singles title, while the men's doubles championship went to Théo Arribagé and Albano Olivetti. This tournament transformed Kazakhstan's largest city into a vibrant hub for sports and culture, showcasing the country's growing stature in international tennis.
As part of the 27 ATP 250 tournaments within the ATP circuit, each event awards 250 ranking points to its champion and plays a vital role in the professional tennis ecosystem. The ATP's recognition signifies a milestone for Kazakhstan's increasing presence in international tennis and serves as a testament to the dedication of the organizers, volunteers, sponsors, and enthusiastic support from fans.
The Almaty Open looks set to continue its trajectory of success, with an eye on future developments that will further enhance its profile in the world of tennis. As the tournament blossoms, it promises to offer unforgettable moments for all tennis lovers and propel the sport to new heights in Kazakhstan.
