The renowned reading music play titled 'Night on the Galactic Railroad' will be staged by Obirin University from August 25 to August 31, 2025, at the Obirin Arts and Culture Hall - Stones Hall in Machida, Tokyo. This performance combines the talents of students, local citizens, and professional artists, making it a unique celebration of community and creativity.

Overview of the Play

Since its debut in 2007, this annual summer project has captivated audiences for 18 consecutive years. 'Night on the Galactic Railroad' invites participants to explore the themes of hope and existential questions, delivered through a compelling blend of readings, music, and performance art. The play engages audiences not only with its storytelling but also with live percussion and marimba music that brings the character of Giovanni's journey to life.

The 2025 performance will feature a full cast following a two-year hiatus from auditions. A total of 23 newly selected performers will showcase their skills in voice acting, singing, dancing, and instrumentation, ensuring a fresh and dynamic experience. Giovanni’s quest to discover the true essence of happiness will resonate with each audience member, creating an immersive experience that invites reflection and emotional connection.

Performance Schedule

The performances will take place as follows:

- August 25 (Monday) at 17:00
- August 27 (Wednesday) at 17:00
- August 28 (Thursday) at 14:00
- August 29 (Friday) at 14:00
- August 30 (Saturday) at 14:00
- August 31 (Sunday) at 14:00

Note: The show will not perform on August 26 (Tuesday). Post-performance talks will be available on August 28 and August 29.

Ticket Information

Tickets for this extraordinary event are currently available through Confetti, managed by Long Run Planning Inc., based in Shinjuku, Tokyo. The ticket prices are as follows:

- General Admission: 1,200 JPY
- U24 & Senior: 1,000 JPY (for those under 24 or over 60)
- High School Students and Below: 500 JPY

All tickets are subject to a first-come, first-served basis and include tax.

Please note that attendees who purchase the U24 or high school tickets might need to present an ID at the entrance. Admission for preschool-age children is not permitted.
