Celebrate the 2025 Tram Day



On June 8, 2025, the Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation will celebrate "Tram Day" with the special event, Toaran Fan Festival & Vehicle Photo Shoot. This event is not just a celebration; it's an appreciation blowout for fans of the Tokyo Sakura Tram (Toei Arakawa Line) and its beloved mascot, Toaran.

Date: June 8, 2025 (Sunday)
Time: 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM (Final admission at 1:30 PM)
Note: Event will proceed in rain but will be canceled in severe weather.

Location: Arakawa Depot, 8-33-7 Nishiohoku, Arakawa Ward, Tokyo
Easily accessible from the "Arakawa Depot-mae" stop on the Tokyo Sakura Tram.

Festival Highlights


1. Toaran Corner
- Video Showcase: Premiering the YouTube video "Toaran's Cheerful Daily Life," reflecting Toaran's excitement and adventures.
- Art Corner: Fun drawing sessions where attendees can create their renditions of Toaran inspired by the song "Toaran's Drawing Song."
- Photo Spot: Capture memories with a backdrop adorned with Toaran's favorite things and life-sized plush dolls of Toaran and its friend, Minkuru.
- Toaran Merchandise Display: A collection of past goods and promotional items showcasing Toaran's charming universe.
- Toaran's Favorite Foods: Treat yourself to melon soda and pudding, made and sold with collaboration from featured shops along the tram line.
- Merch: Enjoy exclusive event-themed melon soda served in specially designed cups!
- Meet & Greet: Toaran and Minkuru will appear at set times throughout the event, so don’t miss your chance for a photo op!
- Souvenir Cards: Every visitor will receive a "Toaran Card," a fun collector's item that features Toaran’s profile.

2. Vehicle Photo Shoot: Be captivated by the display of the
8900 series, celebrating its 10th anniversary alongside the 50th Anniversary Tram*. Guests will have the opportunity to explore its interiors after taking part in scheduled rotations.

3. Merchandise Sales: Purchase new items including towels and limited edition hair clips among other Toaran and Minkuru goods.

4. Factory Tours: Go behind the scenes in the Tram factory where visitors can see parts and areas often off-limits to the public.

5. Special Displays: Featuring rail inspection vehicles and crossing barriers - a rare opportunity to engage with tram operations.

6. Information Booth: Learn more about the public transport services operating within the city.

7. Digital Ticket Promotion: Those who buy a digital ticket for the tram will receive exclusive merchandise while stocks last.

Crowdfunding Initiative


To enhance the charm of the Toei tram and invigorate the surrounding communities, we are launching a crowdfunding project to redesign a select tram with unique artwork, facilitated by the renowned designer Eiji Mitooka. Contributions can be made until July 22, 2025, and will be the first of its kind for Tokyo's public transportation system. Your support can help create another iconic sight for Tokyo.
