Daikin Partners with ENGIE for Sustainable Energy in Texas
In a significant move towards sustainability,
Daikin, a global leader in the air conditioning manufacturing industry, has announced a five-year agreement with
ENGIE North America. This partnership aims to ensure that all of Daikin's facilities in
Texas will operate on 100% renewable electricity, effectively positioning the company to meet its ambitious environmental goals.
A Leap Towards Renewable Energy
Announced on September 17, 2025, this collaboration underscores Daikin's commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainability. Mike Knights, Daikin's Senior Vice President of Procurement, emphasized the importance of this initiative in aligning their operations with the company's long-term sustainability vision. He stated, "By working with ENGIE, a global leader in the energy transition, we're securing clean electricity for our Texas operations while reinforcing our environmental responsibility goals."
This new agreement will facilitate the sourcing of clean electricity from the
Impact Solar project, located in North Texas. This project is owned and operated by a third party and has been delivering renewable energy since 2021. The partnership aims to bring Daikin closer to achieving its goal of turning the
Daikin Texas Technology Park (DTTP) into a Net Zero Factory by 2030. This is also a part of Daikin's broader
Environmental Vision 2050, which sets ambitious long-term sustainability objectives.
Collaboration with Industry Leaders
The CEO of ENGIE Resources,
Anne-Laure Chassanite, expressed pride in this landmark agreement, stating, "This agreement with Daikin underscores how industry leaders can advance global visions into tangible progress locally." The initiative not only ensures a reliable source of renewable energy for Daikin but also strengthens the company's efforts to champion sustainability within the HVAC industry.
In a similar vein, Daikin had previously installed a solar array at their DTTP facility, which powers the central chiller plant and supports grid integration. The company's sustainability efforts are a direct outcome of a two-year collaboration with
ForeFront Power. Together, they explored Daikin's energy usage, sustainability ambitions, and strategic procurement planning, yielding a robust approach towards renewable energy adoption.
Dr. Ruben Fontes, CEO of ForeFront Power, highlighted the significance of strategic energy planning, noting, "Our relationship with Daikin reflects the power of strategic energy planning and competitive solicitation processes to drive meaningful sustainability outcomes." The advisory team at ForeFront Power worked closely with Daikin to develop a renewable procurement strategy aligned with their Net Zero goals, marking an important step in leading the charge for responsible manufacturing and renewable energy usage.
