Experience Pilates for Post-Hiking Care at Summer Mountain Fest 2025
RIGAKUBODY, a Tokyo-based company committed to promoting health through physical therapy, will showcase a Pilates experience booth to care for knees and backs after hiking at the
8th Summer Mountain Festival in Fukuoka on June 28th and 29th, 2025.
At this event, physical therapists will assess visitors' physical conditions and offer tailored exercises based on their posture habits and muscle usage. The booth aims to provide insights into how to better use the body, focusing on areas that often feel discomfort during or after a hike.
Insights from the Expert
Shohei Kata, a director at RIGAKUBODY and skilled physical therapist, highlights the unseen strains on the body from hiking. He emphasizes that during descent, the impact on knees can be nearly twice that of flat walking. Activities of the quadriceps can increase significantly to support this movement, raising concerns about muscle fatigue and potential strain injuries that can arise from eccentric contractions.
“Our booth is designed to help attendees reassess how they use their bodies and suggest exercises to reduce strain. We encourage any questions or concerns about discomfort after hiking,” says Kata.
