Moegi Integrates Space Technology with Ground Solutions as New Cross U Member

Moegi Joins Cross U for Innovative Space Solutions

Moegi Co., Ltd., based in Musashino, Tokyo, has embarked on an exciting journey in the space business by joining Cross U as a member on June 2024. Known for its motto, "Creating a Better Tomorrow through Maps and ICT," Moegi aims to enrich terrestrial activities via aviation and space technology. As part of this commitment, their collaboration with Cross U, a platform dedicated to fostering the creation and expansion of space businesses from their hub in X-Nihonbashi, marks a significant step forward in integrating space technologies into practical ground solutions.

Why Cross U?

Moegi's decision to become a member of Cross U is driven by its desire to merge satellite positioning technologies with on-the-ground applications. This collaboration opens up new opportunities for knowledge exchange and networking with experts and businesses in the satellite navigation and space technology fields. Notably, Moegi plans to participate in the 2024 and 2025 Michibiki Academy, where they will connect with researchers and enterprises focusing on satellite positioning and its applications.

Additionally, Moegi is gearing up to participate in the NIHONBASHI SPACE WEEK 2025, set to occur in October 2025, which promises to provide further opportunities for collaboration with other players in the space business sector.

Bridging Earth and Space

“We may not go into space ourselves, but we aim to develop technologies that support activities and lifestyles on Earth by utilizing signals from satellites,” states Rina Katayose, President of Moegi. This vision encapsulates Moegi's mission to leverage space technology for ground applications, enriching the lives of people on Earth.

Michibiki and CALINT: Innovating Space Technology Applications

One of Moegi’s key products, CALINT, is an innovative position management solution that integrates location data with images captured via smartphones. This tool is utilized widely, from infrastructure surveys to disaster response efforts. In general, smartphone positioning enhances accuracy by utilizing correction data from satellite signals and mobile communications. However, this method falls short when connectivity is not available, leading to decreased accuracy in remote locations.

To address this issue, Moegi is actively researching and validating methods to use the Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS) provided by the domestically operated Michibiki satellites. This service enhances positioning accuracy even in areas devoid of mobile signals. By harnessing advanced space technology, Moegi aims to elevate the value of businesses that utilize these innovations on Earth, contributing to solving societal challenges effectively.

Upcoming Presentation

Moegi is excited to announce that they will present on October 29, 2024, during the PITCH④ session from 16:00 to 17:00 JST. The title of the presentation is “Beyond Satellite Positioning – Moegi’s Vision for the Future of Geolocation,” and they invite everyone interested in the topic to attend. Future Directions

Looking ahead, Moegi will continue to promote the integration of space technology, positioning solutions, and ground applications through their association with Cross U. They aim to create new values from the perspective of connecting Earth and space. Moegi is also genuinely looking forward to meeting with everyone involved in the space business at the NIHONBASHI SPACE WEEK 2025.
