NeweZ's Innovative Rice Field Owner Program

NeweZ Co., Ltd., based in Kisarazu, Chiba Prefecture, has introduced a groundbreaking welfare service for companies called the Rice Field Owner Program. This unique initiative, which stems from sustainable agricultural practices, will be showcased at the upcoming "11th Welfare Expo【Spring】" part of the "23rd Tokyo General Affairs, HR, and Accounting Week," taking place from June 25 to 27, 2025, at Tokyo Big Sight in Koto City, Tokyo.

Background of the Initiative

As rice prices soar, many farmers face significant challenges that threaten their livelihoods, such as dwindling agricultural workforce and the rise of abandoned farmland. These issues have dire implications for environmental sustainability and food security. In response to these challenges, NeweZ has collaborated with local farmers in Chiba Prefecture to launch the Rice Field Owner Program. By partnering with businesses in the local and metropolitan areas, the initiative allows companies to become owners of rice fields. Through this program, businesses can utilize the harvested rice for employee benefits and corporate PR, while farmers can foresee their earnings even before the rice is harvested, thereby ensuring stability in their farming operations.

At this year’s expo, NeweZ aims to present the program not only as a welfare initiative but also as a vehicle for corporate social responsibility and SDG participation, inviting businesses to explore the potential of sustainable agriculture.

Expo Highlights

At the NeweZ booth, attendees will have the opportunity to explore the Rice Field Owner Program through informative panels and brochures. The experienced staff will guide even those unfamiliar with agriculture on how to effectively leverage this innovative service. Whether you're looking to enhance employee satisfaction, implement a unique PR strategy, or contribute to the SDGs, NeweZ's booth will provide valuable insights and solutions.

NeweZ will also be participating in "16th HR Expo [Spring]" alongside the welfare expo, offering various proposals. Make sure to visit both booths for comprehensive options!

What is the Rice Field Owner Program?

The Rice Field Owner Program allows companies to take ownership of rice fields, thereby enabling farmers to cultivate rice specifically for their corporate owners. This model ensures a stable income for farmers while allowing businesses to gift the harvested rice as a part of employee benefits or as a promotional gift to clients. Thus, it creates a cycle of support between businesses and farmers, addressing the declining agricultural workforce and the issue of abandoned farmland—contributing toward achieving the SDGs.

Companies that become rice field owners will receive rice harvested from these fields, which can be used as a unique aspect of their corporate welfare programs and PR efforts. This initiative emphasizes local community support and showcases creative approaches to corporate responsibility.
