Enhancing Winter Access: New Seasonal Bus Services to Aizu Bandai Snow Resort

Aizu Bandai Snow Resort: New Winter Transport Options

The Aizu Bandai Snow Resort Council is launching a winter bus service to enhance access to the exceptional snow conditions of the Urabandai and Bandai areas. Known for its outstanding snow quality, this region is a top winter destination in Japan, featuring three ski resorts. However, limited transportation options have made access challenging, particularly for those without personal vehicles, including urban dwellers and international visitors.

Direct Access from Tokyo

To address these access issues, the council has initiated a direct shuttle service connecting Tokyo with the Urabandai ski area. The service will operate from December 19, 2025, to February 28, 2026, on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays. Tourists will be able to travel directly from the Yaesu Bus Terminal in Tokyo to various hotels in the Urabandai area, including:
  • - EN RESORT Grandeco
  • - Urabandai Lake Resort
  • - Kyukamura Urabandai
  • - Mercure Urabandai
This initiative aims to not only improve convenience for skiers but also to contribute to the local tourism economy meaningfully.

Booking and Costs

  • - Fare: 6000 JPY for adults and 3000 JPY for children, one way.
  • - Reservations can be made in advance through the official Aizu Bus website: Aizu Bus.

Free Ski Shuttle Buses

In addition to the primary shuttle, a free ski shuttle bus will link the Urabandai ski resorts with hotels and other destinations. This popular service, reintroduced because of last season's success, offers seamless connections to various activities.

Shuttle Service Details

  • - Operation Period: December 27, 2025, to February 28, 2026.
  • - Notably, from January 17 to February 1, the shuttle will additionally serve the Aizu Kitakata Ramen Museum, allowing riders to explore local cuisine and culture. Visitors can enjoy a two-hour stop in Kitakata City to savor its famous ramen.
  • - Route: EN RESORT Grandeco to Hoshino Resort Nekoma Mountain, stopping at key points like the Goshikinuma Entrance Tourist Plaza and other hotels.
  • - Shuttle buses will run eight times daily at no cost, requiring no reservations. Guests need only to present a ride certificate available from participating hotels.

Aizu Bandai Snow Resort Council

Established in December 2023, the Aizu Bandai Snow Resort Council is composed of three municipalities – Aizuwakamatsu City, Bandai Town, and Kitashiozawa Village, along with local DMOs, tourism associations, and ski business stakeholders. The council’s vision is encapsulated in its project, “The Authentic Japan in Powder Snow Resort Aizu,” which aims to promote long-term winter tourism in Aizu, leveraging the area's history, culture, and natural beauty to create a synergistic effect that enhances local strengths and addresses challenges.
