Unprecedented Success in the World of Skewers
In a remarkable milestone for casual dining, Kushikatsu Tanaka, a brand under Unisia Holdings, has achieved a phenomenal feat with its 'Infinity Skewer' series. Launched on April 24, 2025, this innovative offering is priced at just 50 yen (tax included 55 yen) per skewer. The series has now surpassed 20 million sold, earning over 1 billion yen in sales. With approximately 1 in 6 Japanese people trying the skewer, it has quickly become a widely talked-about sensation in Japan.
The Inspiration Behind 'Infinity Skewer'
The 'Infinity Skewer' was created to bring back the essence of casual izakaya dining, allowing customers to enjoy a guilt-free experience without worrying about prices. The series emphasizes affordable indulgence, aligning with the company's vision of making dining a memorable experience for everyone.
The Journey of Infinity Skewers
1. The Original: Infinity Garlic Hormone Skewer
Starting as the initial offering, the Infinity Garlic Hormone Skewer was a customer favorite. Launched initially and reaching a staggering 14 million sales before its unfortunate discontinuation on December 31, 2025, it set the trend for the entire series. The skewer featured a strong garlic soy sauce that won the hearts (and palates) of many.
2. New Additions to the Lineup
With the original skewer setting a high standard, two exciting new flavors were introduced in January 2026.
- - Infinity Dote Miso Hormone Skewer: A rich, flavorful skewer made with a special blend of Dote Miso, which is used in their popular beef tendon dishes. This skewer has a robust, sweet flavor with a perfect balance of richness and umami, making it the ideal accompaniment for drinks.
- - Infinity Yuzu Ponzu Hormone Skewer: Offering a refreshing contrast, this skewer combines zesty yuzu ponzu with a touch of spicy momiji oroshi (grated daikon), providing a delightful citrus burst that complements the rich beef hormone. Its light aftertaste allows customers to enjoy one skewer after another without fatigue.
Enhancing the Experience with Infinity Sour
To further elevate the 'Infinity Skewer' experience, Kushikatsu Tanaka introduced two specially crafted sours starting from April 1, 2026. These unique drinks add a playful twist to the dining outing.
- - Tsundere Sour: This sour features a dry taste, balancing the sharpness of lemon and lime with a hint of saltiness. Its refreshing acidity breaks up the richness of the skewers while leaving a delicate aftertaste that invites you for more.
- - Yorisoi Sour: A milder drink, this sour combines sweet and sour flavors of plum with the refreshing notes of grapefruit. It complements the skewers gently, enhancing without overpowering the main attraction.
Pricing and Availability
Customers can enjoy these new skewers at all Kushikatsu Tanaka locations, excluding the Tokyo Dome store. Both skewer varieties are priced affordably at 50 yen each (including tax 55 yen). While takeout and delivery are not available, the in-restaurant experience promises fun and flavors galore.
A Community Challenge: Infinity Mission!
To keep customer engagement high, Kushikatsu Tanaka has rolled out the 'Infinity Mission', a community participation challenge. Customers have the opportunity to maintain the special price of 290 yen (tax included 319 yen) for the sours if they collectively consume 50,000 cups by the end of April. Should they achieve this goal, the pricing will continue into the next month.
