GSI's Food Drive Initiative to Support Single-Parent Families in Need

GSI's Commitment to Community Support: Food Drive Highlights

In its ongoing commitment to social responsibility and sustainability, GSI Corporation, headquartered in Sapporo, Japan, recently conducted an internal food drive as part of its efforts related to ISO 14001 and the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The food drive took place from January to March 2025 and aimed to support single-parent families facing economic hardships through the initiative titled "Good Rice," managed by the nonprofit organization, Good Neighbors Japan.

Overview of GSI's Food Drive Activities

The food drive was held across GSI’s six locations, including Sapporo, Tokyo, Fukuoka, Osaka, and Sendai. Employees were encouraged to donate non-perishable food items, and the response was overwhelming. The drive successfully collected 68 food items this year, contributing to a total of 283 items for the 2024 fiscal year. Key donations included a variety of snacks, instant noodles, retort pouch meals, canned goods, and beverages, showcasing a wide array of support for families in need.

Types of Donated Food Items:

1. Snacks: Potato chips, biscuits, candy, cookies, jelly, and more.
2. Instant Foods: Udon noodles, ramen, miso soup.
3. Retort Foods: Curry and packaged rice.
4. Canned Goods: Sardines, teriyaki chicken, herring flakes, and seaweed.
5. Beverages: Carrot juice, tomato juice, and coffee.
6. Others: Cornflakes and cereals.

Through such initiatives, GSI demonstrates its commitment to helping vulnerable communities, particularly children from single-parent households, while simultaneously abiding by its environmental management goals.
