GovCIO Achieves Milestone in VA's Readiness and Employment System Modernization
GovCIO is excited to announce the early deployment of Phase 1 of the Readiness and Employment System (RES), marking a significant step forward in the modernization efforts of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This initiative is designed to enhance the Veteran Readiness and Employment (VRE) program, which aims to assist veterans in establishing meaningful and sustainable careers after their service.
The deployment was completed nearly a month ahead of schedule and has already begun to show notable improvements in the way veterans access career development and rehabilitation services. The VA Deputy Secretary, Dr. Paul R. Lawrence, Ph.D., shared on LinkedIn that this improvement is pivotal in diminishing wait times and optimizing service delivery, allowing veterans to refocus on achieving their career goals.
"We're building a VA that's modern, responsive and relentlessly focused on Veterans' needs. RES is just one example of how we're replacing outdated tools with modern systems that put Veterans first and improve outcomes across the board," stated Margarita Devlin, VA Acting Principal Deputy Under Secretary for Benefits.
The RES project modernizes VRE's case management platform, significantly lessening the reliance on manual processes and enhancing case visibility for staff. According to project results published by the VA, the average processing time for applications has reduced from seven days to slightly over two days. This expedited process allows veterans to connect with Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors quicker, enabling them to start their personalized rehabilitation plans without unnecessary delays.
GovCIO is honored to be part of this transformational initiative. Employing an Agile DecSecOps approach alongside the Appian low-code platform, GovCIO's team is dedicated to offering secure and scalable enhancements across the VRE product line. This successful execution of Phase 1 has reinforced the VA's confidence in GovCIO as a trusted modernization partner known for delivering complex, mission-critical systems swiftly and with precision.
Megha Chokshi, Senior Vice President at GovCIO VETS, expressed her pride in the team's accomplishments, emphasizing that this milestone reflects what can be achieved when individuals unite under a common goal with dedication, integrity, and professionalism focused on serving veterans.
