Mazda Reports Notable Changes in May Vehicle Sales Data for 2025

Mazda's May 2025 Sales Report

Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) has recently made headlines by releasing their vehicle sales figures for May 2025. The iconic automotive manufacturer reported total sales of 28,937 vehicles for the month, reflecting a significant decline of 18.6% compared to May 2024. However, the year-to-date statistics tell a different story with a total of 179,913 vehicles sold so far this year, marking an increase of 6.1% from the previous year.

On examining the rush of sales in May, it's important to highlight that there were 27 selling days this year versus 26 from the same month last year. This change results in a noteworthy decrease of 21.6% when considering the daily sales rate (DSR) in the context of this year’s performance.

Used Vehicle Sales

In addition to the new vehicles, Mazda experienced growth in their Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicle sales, which reached 6,782 units in May—a 1% increase when compared to the previous year's numbers for the same month. This increase in used vehicle sales is promising and showcases customer interest in Mazda's quality vehicles even after their initial sale.

Highlights of May Sales

Among the highlights of Mazda's current month sales was the stellar performance of the CX-70 model, which recorded sales of 1,065 vehicles. This figure marks the highest sales for this model since it was introduced, illustrating Mazda's continuing evolution within the competitive SUV segment.

The CPO sales also marked their second-best performance for May, indicating that consumers are increasingly choosing certified pre-owned options from Mazda's lineup.

Regional Sales Overview

In Canada, Mazda's performance saw improvements with 7,946 vehicles sold—a 15% increase compared to April of the previous year. The year-to-date figures in Canada have reached 32,830 units, equating to a remarkable 24% rise from the same timeframe last year. Meanwhile, in Mexico, Mazda Motor de México reported 8,671 vehicle sales in May, reflecting a 9% increase as compared to the previous year, with year-to-date figures reaching 42,783 units and a 21% increase from the last year’s performance.
