The NextRise 2026 startup fair recently concluded in Seoul, co-hosted by the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) and the Korea Development Bank (KDB). This two-day event, held from June 18 to 19, was a resounding success, marking its place as Asia’s foremost startup platform. At COEX in Samseong-dong, participants experienced an engaging ambiance with a spotlight on innovation and collaboration.

This year’s exhibition was the largest in NextRise's history, featuring more than 540 startups, 140 of which hailed from 30 different countries. The fair provided an excellent opportunity for these startups to showcase groundbreaking technologies and connect with global industry leaders. Noteworthy participants included major corporates like LG, CJ, Hanwha Aerospace, Google Cloud, and Renault, all actively seeking collaboration with emerging startups.

The event facilitated over 4,000 one-on-one business consultations through a specialized meetup program, effectively pairing startups with potential investors and corporate partners. This initiative is touted as one of Asia’s largest networking events, designed to foster tangible business relationships and investment opportunities.

In addition to the networking opportunities, the conference program delivered more than 60 expert-led sessions, covering critical topics such as AI advancements, the biotechnology landscape, and strategies for entering global markets. Notable presentations included insights from Marc Manara, Head of Startups at OpenAI, who discussed the impending era of AI, and Robert Langer, co-founder of Moderna, who delved into bio innovation.

Moreover, innovative on-site activities were introduced to enhance stakeholder engagement. Experience zones allowed visitors to interact with next-generation technologies, featuring humanoid robots, AI drones, and more. Special programs, including startup exhibitions and recruitment meetups, aimed to connect talented young developers with startups eagerly looking to expand.

The NextRise 2026 Awards recognized outstanding achievements among startups, with 32 innovators receiving accolades. The prestigious Top Innovator Prize went to MangoBoost and AmtixBio for their remarkable contributions in AI infrastructure and bio/healthcare. Other awards celebrated innovations in physical AI, robotics, quantum technology, defense, and sustainable materials.

The event emphasized the critical role of startups amidst a rapidly evolving industrial landscape, raising awareness about how innovative technologies can redefine business paradigms. An official from KITA highlighted, "As we navigate this considerable transformation spurred by AI, the significance of these startups to drive change and pave new avenues is paramount. KITA remains committed to supporting these innovations, empowering them to break barriers across sectors for impactful outcomes."
