Temu and Poșta Română Sign Strategic MoU on Logistics Services

In a significant development for e-commerce in Romania, Temu, the global online retail platform, has partnered with Poșta Română, the national postal service operator, by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration aims to enhance logistics services for Romanian sellers using Temu to sell their products. By integrating their operations, both organizations are set to provide a more streamlined order fulfillment process.

Enhancing Local Business Reach

Under the newly established agreement, Poșta Română will manage essential logistics functions including parcel collection from sellers, sorting at various facilities across Romania, and ensuring last-mile delivery. With multiple fulfillment options like home delivery, pickup locations, automated lockers, and post offices, sellers and consumers alike will benefit from a more flexible service.

Valentin Ștefan, the CEO of Poșta Română, emphasized the impact of this partnership on local businesses: “Our extensive network reaches communities throughout Romania, including rural areas. This agreement allows us to extend delivery and return services to Romanian sellers on Temu, hence enabling them to cater to customers nationwide.” He further mentioned the partnership's potential to assist local sellers expand their market reach not only within Romania but also throughout Europe.

Supporting Small Enterprises

Temu made its entrance into the Romanian market in July 2023. Since then, it has opened its platform to local businesses, allowing them to leverage its extensive customer base. In response to the barriers that many European small businesses face — mainly complexity, cost, and lack of guidance in entering online sales — Temu aims to tackle these challenges through its collaboration with Poșta Română. A spokesperson for Temu stated, “Four out of five small businesses in Europe do not engage in online commerce, and obstacles such as costs and know-how hinder their progression. By combining forces with Poșta Română, we aspire to empower more Romanian sellers by providing reliable logistics and opportunities for growth both locally and internationally.”

As part of the agreement, the two firms will hold joint events aimed at educating and supporting Romanian businesses that are currently selling on Temu. They will also meet regularly to evaluate their efforts and work towards constant improvements in delivery services.
