Shinchosha Partners with CCP
In an exciting development for the cultural landscape, Shinchosha Co., Ltd., headquartered in Shinjuku, Tokyo, has joined forces with Creative Contents Promotion (CCP), located in Minato, Tokyo. This collaboration marks the beginning of the licensing of Japanese teen magazines, 'Nicola' and 'Nico Puchi', for the Korean market.
Understanding CCP
CCP, or Creative Contents Promotion, was founded by CEO Tomu Oishi, who has a rich history in various entertainment sectors such as music, fashion, and sports. Notably, Oishi started his career in the music industry at a young age, where he has worked with both domestic and international artists in sound engineering and booking. His ventures expanded into fashion and sports, and in 2003, he partnered with UK’s Premier Model Management through is own company, MISSION GROUP. This partnership paved the way for numerous projects across borders, including film, commercial, and fashion brand promotions as well as international talent agency services.
A New Beginning in the Korean Market
The first step of this partnership involves entering into a licensing agreement with K-TIGERS, a highly popular and trusted name in South Korea. K-TIGERS has gained notoriety as part of the production team behind the hit series 'KPOP Girls! Demon Hunters', surpassing the record of Netflix's 'Squid Game' in viewership.
In Korea, the influence of digital content among younger audiences is continuously on the rise. There is an increasing societal need to discover and nurture the next generation of talent in fashion and pop culture. This project not only meets these market demands but also promotes stronger cultural exchange between Japan and Korea.
Voices of Leadership
K-TIGERS Vice President Konnaka Zuko
Zuko expressed, “I feel a significant sense of mission in bringing the well-established 'Nicola' from Shinchosha into the Korean market. By leveraging our 207 dojos nationwide and our vast network of 160,000 kid members, we aim to broaden 'Nicola's' operational domain while strengthening our media content business.”
CCP CEO Tomu Oishi
Oishi shared his vision, stating, “Japan’s proud 'Nicola' has been the launchpad for many stars in the entertainment industry. We hope to expand this model starting from Korea to other Asian nations, fostering opportunities for local stars to emerge.”
Shinchosha Nicola Division Manager Isamu Sakai
Sakai emphasized, “Since its launch in 1997, 'Nicola' has strong support from Japanese middle and high school girls. We will strive to positively influence Korean teenagers through our fashion and cultural activities. Engaging with Korea, a leader in Asian entertainment, will surely expand 'Nicola's' horizons.”
Future Developments
Shinchosha and CCP view this partnership as a stepping stone for expansion throughout Asia. Plans are being laid out to extend operations to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and further into ASEAN countries and Western markets, starting from Korea.
Additionally, through 'Nicola' and 'Nico Puchi', they aim to nurture the next generation of stars across different countries, establishing structures for cultivating talents capable of thriving in international arenas. They also plan to actively create events and content that blend digital and real-world experiences.
This partnership transcends the boundaries of merely being a licensing agreement; it sets a new model for propagating Japanese intellectual property globally while unlocking new possibilities within the entertainment industry.
