Fujikura Launches New Multi-Core Fiber Fusion Splicer 100R for Enhanced Efficiency

Fujikura's New Multi-Core Fiber Fusion Splicer 100R

Fujikura Ltd., under the leadership of CEO Naoki Okada, is excited to announce the upcoming launch of its advanced multi-core fiber fusion splicer, the '100R', scheduled for April 2026. This innovative device comes at a critical time when data centers are expanding rapidly, requiring a significant reliance on high-density and ultra-massive multi-core fiber optic cables. As the demand for faster and more reliable fiber optic connections intensifies, the '100R' meets these needs with cutting-edge technology.

Features of the 100R

The '100R' is designed to fuse multi-core fiber ribbon cables with up to 16 cores, including the single-core fiber and the innovative intermittent fixed type optical fiber ribbon, SWR® (Spider Web Ribbon). This model is especially suited for deployment in modern data centers and next-generation telecommunications infrastructure, where the efficiency of fusion connections is crucial.

Automatic Fiber Alignment Function

One of the standout features of the splicer is its Automatic Fiber Alignment Function. This mechanism ensures that when fiber is set into place, any fiber not properly aligned in the V-groove is automatically corrected. By reducing the need to reset fibers, this functionality significantly slashes the overall working time, allowing technicians to work more efficiently.

Endface Spacing Correction Function

In addition to the automatic alignment, the '100R' introduces an Endface Spacing Correction Function. This feature automatically equalizes the spacing between the left and right fiber endfaces before fusion, resulting in reduced connection losses compared to older models.

Enhanced Fiber Holders and V-Grooves

The new splicer also includes the new 'FH-80 Series' fiber holders, designed for improved set capability when using the SWR® ribbon fibers. Available options include the FH-80-12 for 12 cores, among others. Similar to previous models, the holders and V-grooves can be easily swapped out to accommodate different fiber counts and spacing.

Splice Coach Functionality

The '100R' is equipped with a Splice Coach Function, which guides users through the connection procedures, ensuring that even inexperienced technicians can carry out installations without difficulty.

GPS Integration

Additionally, it features GPS capabilities that record connection test results along with the location data, enhancing construction management efficiency and traceability. Using the 'Splice+' smartphone application, users can download this information conveniently, making data tracking effortless.

Retaining Traditional Features

Moreover, the '100R' maintains several traditional functionalities present in earlier models, such as the automatic wind protection feature and the innovative ACTIVE FUSION CONTROL TECHNOLOGY. This technology analyzes the endface condition and the luminous intensity during discharge, optimizing the fusion process in real time. Another key feature is the ACTIVE BLADE MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY, which monitors the condition of the fiber cutter's blades and autonomously rotates them when wear is detected.

Looking Ahead

Fujikura is committed to advancing technology that will support the establishment of data centers and the development of next-generation communication infrastructure. Through the introduction of the '100R' and ongoing innovation, the company aims to contribute significantly to the realization of a digital society.

The SWR® trademark is owned by Fujikura Ltd. This commitment to cutting-edge technology ensures that Fujikura remains at the forefront of the fiber optic industry, ready to meet the evolving challenges and demands of global communication networks.
